For those who think Lebron is the best player......

How far and away is number 2?

I recently saw a comment by a poster mentioning that this Chicago series has proved to us that Lebron is the best player in the NBA and then there's a 2nd tier of all the other superstars.

So lets list a few of the top players in the NBA considered to POSSIBLY be with Lebron when people make their player lists.

Howard
Wade
Dirk
and my homer pick is to put Durant up here but I know he still has some ways to go so for sake of discussion I won't list him.

Howard-His defensive impact TRUMPS LEBRON by alot no matter how many Lebron homers try and say Lebron is Scottie/Russel/Payton all in one because he guarded a tired Rose at the end of the game. His offensive game still needs ALOT OF WORK but he can score efficiently and enough. He had sucky teammates but I felt he shouldn't have turned the ball over 340578340797 times. When Dwight learns to pass out the double teams, LOOK THE FREAK OUT. I don't know, maybe Magic fans can expound on this but from what I see, Dwight has a bad habit of always turning or going into the double teams instead of going away. He also hasn't polished his post game enough yet which is why people feel comfortable putting C's like ZaZa and Jason freaking Collins on him. Still though his impact and talent is UNDENIABLE and in terms of impact on the game, he beats EVERYBODY including Lebron.

Wade-I give this guy a hard time because I expect him to play better then what he is playing ESPECIALLY in this Chicago series, but one cannot deny that he has the numbers, and while he may not have the accolades, I think everyone on realgm is smart enough to consider things in context and he's been snubbed quite a bit, maybe even alot. Before the 2 cowards decided to team up, the Miami Heat vs Cleveland Cavalier match-ups were EPIC, Lebron had the better team so he won alot of times but like I said, things have to be looked at in context. These two look like complete equals when they played each other and I think alot of us are mad because, we'll never get to see this playoff series. The cowards robbed us of what could have been possibly the next great rivalry. Wade is a elite defender, this season an elite rebounder, and before this season was an elite playmaker. Now I can't speak on how close they've been in play this season so maybe a Miami fan could expound on this. I give this guy flak and will continue too but if you go over his numbers, dang you can't deny this guy.

As for Dirk, I don't even want to speak on this guy because it is absolutely pissing me off how AMAZING HE IS. Who the heck has a offensive game boasting a 96% TS type of game? Evidently Dirk. Now with his choking labels and his faulters in the playoffs with good teams, people have started to underrate him, I know I did but it makes me sick to my stomach how wrong I was about this guy. His shot is pretty much ON always, he has the size, he can now take you to the hole SOMEWHAT as he couldn't before and he is AMAZINGLY CLUTCH...What is there to say about this guy but he's been unstoppable lately. Now I think his defense leaves much to be desired but Tyson Chandler hides that extremely well. He can pass out of double teams and he can drive and kick now, I never remebered Dirk doing that as well as he's doing it now. Dirk is just, again, amazing.

So realgm, How much is Lebron better than these players? Lets get a good basketball discussion going

LeBron is clearly the best player in the league but its not a big gap IMO.Howard and Wade both show they can challenge LeBron as the best player at times which is why I don't think the gap is that big.

I feel it is LeBron pretty easily in first. There is a decent sized gap only cause he's so great... then it is Howard.

howard is probaly the closest but even with the magic roster i dont see the magic with lebron being bounced in the first round

People gonna act like lebron is god. Lebron is the best player rite now tho. Carmelo is the second best.

Wasn't the Cavs' LeBron considered the best player in the league by a significant margin? Other than maybe losing half a step or coasting sometimes because of better team mates now (however you wanna look at it), he hasn't gotten worse or the top tier players in the NBA haven't gotten significantly better. LeBron is the only player in the league who can do almost anything at an elite level. Dwight just happens to be in a league that is very thin on good Cs which makes him more valuable than almost any player in the NBA, not necessarily better. LeBron can do better without Wade and Bosh than either of them can do without him. That is a fact. Top 5 for me are LeBron>>>Dwight>>Wade>Kobe>______? Haven't decided who goes in that fifth spot.

Rereading it does seem like I'm being sarcastic I guess. But he's easily #1 imo... and that means there is a decent gap for me. If MVP was simply "the best player in the league", I'd engrave the next half dozen or so with his name and get a bulk discount.

Ok im sorry but lets be real here.......

Lebron is Clearly the Best in the Game!... like they were saying on the Mike & Mike show earlier "Nobody Impacts the Game in soo many ways like Lebron does. he is one of those trensending players that come along every 20 yrs with the way he impacts the game on offense as well as defense"

& i completely agree. How many Players can you guys name that can give you 35-7-7 on any given night?... Not too many!

D Howard is probably in 2nd place to Lebron right now.
