Yes, Magics and Wilts peak imo underrated here and Shaqs overrated a bit, maybe its because of average age of posters...

Thanks a lot, waiting for your full elaboration and right now I will count it like your choice in the voting panel, but in the future you could change it of course.

With 1 new voter.

I count the results of voting according to system: number one gains 5 points, number 2 - 4 points, 3th place - 3 points, 4th - 2 points, 5th - 1 point.

Here is the top-5 individual peaks ever of RealGM PC board posters voting to 29 january 2014.

1. Michael Jordan - 154 points

2. Shaqiulle O'Neal - 121 points

3. Wilt Chamberlain - 66 points

4. Lebron James - 65 points

5. Hakeem Olajuwon - 34 points

Other players, receiving votes:

6. Larry Bird - 25 points

7. Bill Russell - 18 points

8. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar - 15 points

9. Magic Johnson - 3 points

10. Oscar Robertson -2 points

11. Julius Erving - 1 point

12. Tim Duncan - 1 point

13. Kobe Bryant - 1 point

- Wilt and Lebron are closest as hell, so I hope voting will continue and will help to clarify this debate.

- Last vote (fpliii) change the rankings a bit: Wilt and Lebron changed place, Russell and kareem too.

Waiting for others!

Why not do a seperate debate on Wilt and LBJ. You may get more traction this way.

Good idea! But now I hope some listed posters will respond and after that I will create the separated thread.

Special request for posters:

1. JulesWinnfield - very balanced poster and poster something like his top-4 or 5 peaks once, so Im waiting for set in stone Top-5. I remember you have

MJ
Shaq
Lebron
Hakeem? right?

2. accrossthecourt - very good and intelligent poster, who once make some good cases for best finals ever, thats why I want him to evaluate greatest peaks ever in his opinion.

3. Sever very good posters, which often post some intelligent info, so I ask them to give their top-5:

4. Three great posters, which likely dont want to participate, but I wonder why they ignore these project?

5. Some noticeable posters, which didnt answer and I dont know why and if they want to participate or just ignore?

No offense Greg, you know that I, and I'm sure that many more posters here also, appreciate your efforts here a lot, but to be perfectly honest, I think that it's a waste of your time to keep repeating the same list every few days - I think not everyone is into making rankings like that - and even some guys who actually posted their lists, may not feel confident about it, about the order in which they would rank those players. It's insanely difficult to compare Wilt or Russell to Shaq or Hakeem, for example, not only because of era differences, but also different playing styles, roles on a team etc. Honestly, I gave up on trying to put together a GOAT list lately, or at least a true GOAT list featuring pre merger players - I'm just unable to establish any kind of cohesive, consistent criteria for it, and making separate lists based on different criteria isn't that appealing to me (there'd be like 5 or 10 different lists, and it wouldn't be possible to put them all together to come up with one ultimate ranking, because I'd return to the starting point, would've gone full circle, 360 degrees...). I think fpliii feels a similar way about it.

By the way - did you receive my PM with an answer concerning MJ, Shaq, Hakeem, LBJ and KD that you asked me for? There were some problems with exchanging private messages between normal posters on these forums for the last few months (because sending those to moderators seemed to work, at least from my knowledge). Did you get it?

Great post, I agree that its difficult to compare different eras and that why its very interesting to hear the opinions about such things from intelligent people.
Yes, I receive your PM and its good food for thinking about these peaks. One of the reason why I recently started to ask only about greatests post-merger peaks : MJ, Lebron, Shaq, Hakeem - because not many posters saw Wilt and Russell and its difficult to compare.

Durant right now is in my top-10 with 6,0-6,5 + 1,5 = 7,5-8 SRS
