The Stephen Curry Thread (2014-15 Pt. 1)

Let's keep the trend going. Curry honestly deserved a thread last year.
But in his home dwelling...the hi-top faded warrior is revered. *Smack!* The sound of his palm blocking the basketball... the sound of thousands rising, roaring... the sound of "get that sugar honey iced tea outta here!"

Gonna be rooting for the kid. We should have been treated to amazing seasons like him a while ago but his damn ankles never held up.

Let's just hope he becomes the type of player he has the potential to be.

Bad shooting night for him (from 3 at least), but I was really impressed by his defense. Did a nice job passing, too.

Sideshow, how good are you expecting the Warriors offense to be this year?

He did the smart thing and gave the ball up though. His shot will always be there, him impacting the game in other ways is what will make him a better player.

I think the ankle thing gets a little overblown. Ever since the new ankle brace he started using last year, he rarely misses games. He played 78 games last year on 38 MPG, and apparently the only issue is the bruising caused by the brace rather than the ankle itself.

I think his defense is also underrated. He's not a stopper, but he can generate steals and guard his position. The only thing I think he absolutely needs to develop is the ability to go to the line. This kid is a sharpshooter, and if he could get himself some more free throws, he would likely be a top 3 offensive player in the league behind Durant and Lebron.

Honestly I think if healthy they can be one of the most exciting offenses I've ever seen. I was too young for showtime and the old Celtics teams, but they have solid to very good passers at all their positions, athletic guys who can run the break (to go with some solid perimeter defenders that can generate steals and Bogut and Lee who can both make passes right after a rebound), some high flyers in Barnes and Iguodala, and potentially the best 3 point shooting back court in league history. They will be different than Showtime, Celtics (certainly not as good) the 00's Suns teams that set offensive records but I think can be just as exciting do to playstyle, amazing 3 point shooters and so many good passers. In 3 out of 4 games they've destroyed the competition on offense with many baskets being assisted and some really nice passes and fast breaks. And they don't even have peak chemistry yet as Bogut has played less than half a season with the team and Iguodala only four real games.

Can't wait to see Curry/Klay/Iguodala/Barnes lineup out there, especially with Curry running the break. He'll have two high flyers, a lethal 3 point shooter and he can always just stop on a dime and pull up for 3. Oh and Bogut trailing for a potential dumpoff pass to go hard at the rim

You are very correct. Even some of the games he missed last year were just for precautionary reasons and Curry said he was fine to play but we had Jack as a solid backup. However, that mentality from Curry is what hurt him many times his 3rd season which was the only one he missed a lot of time and happened to be a shortened season in which we were tanking.

He usually misses like one game and needs 3-4 days rest. It just can't happen in the playoffs again, although with improved play on offense and much improved play on defense maybe we can afford to rest him more and just play him as a decoy in those situations

curry's per 36 numbers through 8 games 23.8/10/3.9/2stl on .556/.453/.947 he's playing as well as if not better than paul has so far.

For comparison
Paul's per 36 21.3/12.4/4.3/2.9 on .516/.269/.965 and Paul has already gotten some MVP consideration this early in the season.

Pretty sure he is in the MVP convo already just not top 5 and Paul outplayed him when they faced each other this season. Pretty badly in fact even with his 38 points(11 TOs).

It seems like he's on the fringe of that discussion. As CP3, Durant, Love and PG are dominating that conversation. When he's arguably having a better season than paul is. His scoring efficiency right now is insane, well actually most of the Warriors scoring efficiencies are pretty insane right now but that's besides the point.

Also head to head matchups rarely determine the mvp discussion esepcially when Curry had a very uncharacteristic game regarding his turnovers, otherwise he played rather well. 38 and 9 on over 60% FG and over 64% 3p

He's really got to keep his TOs in check, but outside of that...he's been incredible this year. #2 PG in the game, and imo, it's not all that close between him and any other PG outside of Paul.

****, that shot tonight was cold-blooded. Let an excellent defender in Marion fly ball, stayed composed, and buried it.

His catch-and-shoot ability is crazy, too. When Draymond Green threw that LeBron-like laser to him in the corner, you knew the Warriors were going to take control of the game right there, even before he made the shot you knew he'd make before he took it. lol

Curry and Green had some really nice chemistry on a night when Thompson was way off. Green is one of the absolute favorites (Definitely a championship-role player), so that was fun to watch.

Curry and Westbrook are getting closer and closer to CP3.

Curry in the last 8 games is leading the league with 30 ppg. Also leads the league in 4th quarter points.

I didn't watch the game...but 9 TOs from Steph Curry???

He's been fantastic overall this season, but that's easily the biggest flaw in his game right now...he's so damn TO-prone. His ORating could be LeBron/CP3 level if he just took care of the basketball better. I think his TO average for the season is up to 4.3 after this game.

Definitely one of my favorite players in the league, but 9 TOs...wow. And the funny thing is...that's not even the most TOs he's had in a game this season.

3 point shooting has been on the rise. Shooting 54% in his last 12 and up to 41.7% on the season. Volume has been on the rise as well
