Most overrated player since 2000(All time?)

Simple.

1. Most overrated player since the 1999-2000 season....

2. And the most overrated player of all time(if it's not the same guy)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Joe Johnson- the amount of money he has made versus the production and playoff success. He's is the most overrated player of this last decade and a half. 44% shooting for career.

2. Wilt Chamberlain- Please don't get me wrong. The things he did were great and will never be matched. But the man only cared about stats. He played 48.5 minutes a game one season. YES 48.5!!! He shot 40 FG per game in a season. He won the genetic lottery. He didn't have any other physical freaks to worry about except for Bill Russell(actually only 6-9) and he lost to him all but 2 years. He padded his stats every game and that's why he is the most overrated player of all time.

MJ really is overrated if you think about it, but far from the most overrated all-time. Most people claim him #1 all-time because of his name. People don't take you seriously when you take Kareem over MJ, even though the case could be made quite easily.

Yes, its because his name is Michael Jordan he is arguably the GOAT(¿?).
People claim him #1 because he made the strongest case for being the GOAT, the fact that people doesn't agree with you doesn't make him overrated. What are you talking about??

He is arguably the GOAT, and I am glad we both agree it is "arguably".

A lot of people claim him #1 without looking at another player and are blind to the fact that another player could have been as great as him for 5-8 more years.

What do you mean "people don't agree with me doesn't make him overrated". This has nothing to do with my opinion as I have MJ as the GOAT. This has to do with people who don't actually compare MJ to other players and quickly jump to start comparing who is the 2nd best player all time while ignoring the fact that Kareem/MJ are very close in terms of Greatness.

Do you understand what I am talking about or is this too complicated for your childish remarks asking me if I "know what I am talking about" when my point was clear as day.

I mean if your point is that some aren't really rating him as thoroughly as one would hope, I think we can all concede that. But that is a quibble over methodology of individual voters, not placement of player. Jordan has a strong case for GOAT, so it is hard to actually view him as overrated unless you think he doesn't. Whether someone voted Jordan #1 for stupid reasons has no bearing on whether Jordan is overrated.

Certain guys get assigned "legendary" status for one reason or another. Like a rock star who died young.

I see guys say Drazen Petrovic would have been a GOAT SG if he had played longer. :roll:

I've seen lots of people say he, or Sabonis - probably fellow countrymen, say he is the greatest Euro player ever.

I've watched full games of Yugoslavia vs the USSR.
Petrovic, Vlade, and Sabonis are impressive but people who want to assign all time great status to these guys are delusional.

Roy Hibbert isn't overrated anymore everyone hates on him now but before he was a little overrated. and Kevin Martin was just a high volume shooter on a bad team so I agree. Good choices.

Kobe Bryant for both, at least outside of RealGM. I'm not hating on him, but a lot of people seriously think he's the second greatest player of all-time after Jordan.

Oh, and yeah, I'd definitely agree about Parker. Would also add Rondo and Kyrie (funny to see so many point guards being really overrated), as far as the most overrated players since 2000. All-time, it's gotta be Maravich, maybe even Cousy, as Ascrilas just mentioned, because they were more flash than substance.

From the casual person's point of view, it has to be Kobe Bryant. There are a lot of non-basketball fans who think that Kobe is the best player in the NBA. And these are the type of people who can name only like 3-4 basketball players.
