09 Cavs with Billups?

Post#1 » by LA Bird » Wed Mar 4, 2015 5:12 pm

How good would 09 Cavs be if you replaced Mo Williams with Chauncey Billups?

In the 2009 playoffs,
Williams: 16.3ppg, 3.2rpg, 4.1apg, 2.1 tov, 0.103 WS/48, 107 ORtg, 53.0 TS%
Billups: 20.6ppg, 3.8rpg, 6.8apg, 1.9tov, 0.249 WS/48, 135 ORtg, 66.4 TS% :o

Lebron and Billups should have no problem co-existing since they actually played with teammates who attempted even more shots:
Melo: 20.1
Lebron: 19.9
Mo Williams: 13.9
Billups: 12.3

Do the Cavs have a chance of winning the championship in 2009 with Billups instead?

Cleveland probably lands a 118 ORTG on Orlando with Chauncey instead of Mo. Billups in 2009 had one of the greatest playoff runs for a PG in modern history. Just ridiculous.

I can see them beating Los Angeles, too. The Lakers did a pretty good job on Carmelo, but I don't think they'd slow LeBron down. That's a tough one though. LA was really good in 2009.

I don't think they could have made the Finals even with Billups

Okay... I didn't read the first post properly.

Apparently Billups had a great playoffs run in 2009. In that case I could definitely see them forcing game seven against the Magic and maybe getting into the Finals as well.

Against the Lakers... I don't think they would beat them.

I'd like to think yes.

Billups improves the scoring efficiency a lot, since Mo Williams was not good against Orlando. 18.3 PPG on 50.5ts%.

Lewis would still provide a bad matchup. Dwight too.

But the guards defense also improves, and Cleveland can hide Delonte West from bigger guards, since Billups is a great defender in that regard.

I beleve Cleveland goes on and they actually don't have a bad matchup against the Lakers.

I would bet yes, they win the 2009 nba championship.
