Where does 09 Billups Rank amongst ATG PG playoff runs?

Post#1 » by theonlyclutch » Mon May 18, 2015 8:44 pm

In 2009, Billups was traded to the nuggets and was a key part in their run to the WCF, during this 16 game run, his raw boxscore numbers were:

20.6 PPG, 6.8 APG (1.9 TOV), 3.8 RPG, 1.3 SPG,

Not particularly impressive by first glance, but something that makes this special is that he was doing it on 46/47/91 shooting splits, this, along with a combination of voluminous 3 point shooting and ridiculous foul draw (.477 3PAr + .594 FTr, respectively) meant he only took around 12 shots per game to get his points, as a result, his scoring efficiency was very high at 66.4% TS, combined with the fact that he took care of the ball very well (11.0% TOV%) meant that his offensive rating that postseason was a faintly ridiculous 135 ORTG :o .

His WS/48 for the postseason was .249, for reference, using this screening criteria from BBall-ref:
Among the Guard positions, For single seasons played in the NBA/BAA in the playoffs from 1946-47 to 2014-15; requiring Games >= 12 and Minutes Played >= 300 sorted by descending Win Shares Per 48 Minutes.

That PS run ranks 4th behind one of CP3, Kobe and Ginobili's PS run, respectively.

Where would you personally rank this playoff run among PG playoff runs?

At least top 10 if were only using one run per player
I came here to do two things: get lost and slice **** up & I'm all out of directions.

reminds me of 92 Terry Porter tbh

Billups was just amazing. He benefitted a lot from the freedom in karl's offense and Melo's presence, though.

Billups was amazing in Detroit, too, on a championship contender as the team's best player. He is criminally underrated on this board.

Probably sounding like a hater at this point, but Billups has many good playoff showings without Melo. Melo has none without Chauncey. I'd say Melo benefitted a lot more from Billups than the other way.
