Greatest Shooting Team of All Time?

Post#1 » by mdonnelly1989 » Wed Jul 20, 2016 10:05 pm

Starting 5
PG: Stephen Curry
SG: Ray Allen
SF: Kevin Durant
PF: Larry Bird
C: Dirk Nowitski

Bench:
G: Steve Nash
G: Reggie Miller
F: George Gervin
F: Rich Barry
C: ?

I couldn't think of many great shooting centers of all time? Maybe Hakeem...

How would your all time shooting team look?

Bob McAdoo, Dave Cowens, Jack Sikma, Rik Smits, Channing Frye, Amare Stoudemire, Bill Laimbeer, plenty of interesting options to consider for bench 5.

EDIT: Sam Perkins, etc, etc.

How do you feel about Dirk being at the 5 on the starting 5 or would you do it differently?

I'd go with KG as long as shooting doesn't only refer to guys who shoot the 3. He was a terrific mid-range shooter and his defense really helps. I'd also look to get Kawhi on this team somewhere. He's the best 3&D player of all-time.

Mehmet Okur, too. He shot more than 38% from beyond the arc four seasons in a row (on very high volume for a center - between 2.8 and 4.2 attempts per game) peaking at 44.6%. Also 80% FT shooter. Borderline all-star in his prime, roughly comparable to Rik Smits.

Bob Lanier was a great shooting center from both the low post and the outside. His hook shot was second only to Kareem's. Stylistically his outside shot looked a lot like Chris Bosh.

Certainly a quality mention.

If shooting matters, that's a good move. Wouldn't do it if I had a better choice to arrange PF/C, though.

Arvydas Sabonis was a pretty shooter from deep as well as in the paint.
