MisterHibachi wrote:So I brought up this idea in the OT thread, and it received positive feedback so here goes. The idea here is to do for Jordan (and hopefully other retired legends down the line if this turns out well) what we do for current players, that is to watch their games and collect our thoughts on them in one on-going thread (the LeBron threads are my standard here). Obviously doing it for all of his games is out of the question, it would take years and finding them all would take ages too. So, that's why I wanted to start with playoff games.

This thread will be for Jordan's playoff games from 1995 to 1998, 4 playoff runs, 68 games in total. I've found and gathered youtube links for them all except for 1996 Bulls Knicks game 5 (if anyone has a link for that please post it here). We'll watch each game starting with Charlotte 1995 and conclude with Utah 1998.

Before we start, I want to discuss scheduling and how to watch in sync. I propose watching a game every other night. I've realized that I won't be able to guarantee free time for myself every other night for a few months in a row, but I can catch up on the nights I miss. The idea is to stick as closely as possible to a set schedule because coordinating times with everyone will be very difficult and it's easier to just stick to a schedule and have people catch up on their own time if they wish. On the matter of watching in sync: I was thinking of live-streaming it myself, but this runs into a few problems: I don't know how to live stream lol, and I can't guarantee I'll be available for every game night. So a simple solution is to just watch on youtube all at the same time and every once in a while, myself or another designated person can call out the time they're at in the youtube video so everyone can sync up or those joining in halfway know what part of the game everyone is watching.

Here's a dropbox link to the document with the youtube links. Again, if anyone has a link to game 5 Knicks 1996, please post it in this thread. There's some links here I won't be using (the playlists ones) because I found other accounts that have them in one video, but I've kept them here in case those single video ones get taken down.

Looking for recommendations on when to start. As of now, there are two games every night in the playoffs, and watching three games in a night is a tall task and people likely would rather watch the playoffs than reruns of the Bulls. So we can postpone it till the conference finals start when there will be only one game per night and watching back to back games isn't that difficult. Or we can just start this week if enough people want to.

Thoughts?

The third quarter changed this game, the Bulls couldn't make a shot and the Hornets kept spamming it inside. MJ tried to engineer a comeback near the end, made a couple threes but had some turnovers. Forced it a bit in isolation, but overall pretty good. Mourning was an absolute beast, had an amazing block on MJ during that third quarter run. But overall, MJ got wherever he wanted on the floor. His finishing inside has been weak through 2 games, but his mid range is absolutely money and he can get it whenever he wants.

Michael guarding Muggsy, who made 1 three pointer all year. Acting as the help defender, left him alone worse than teams left Rondo. Charlotte immediately takes Muggsy out.

They really don't respect Muggsy's jumper.

No one on Charlotte can stay in front of MJ, it's ridiculous he easily he gets by every one they put on him.

A little more nostalgia... nets games were also broadcast on sports channel, which we got locally in addition to Knicks games. A real luxury back then. Also realizing I knew cowens first as a decent coach as opposed to HOF player. Curry guarding his son's future coach, too, heh.

Mourning had a terrible first half. He was MIA in that second quarter, and they're getting dominated in the paint too, giving up a lot of offensive rebounds.

Lol Alonzo really can't catch a break. Finally gets a basket through a double team, then gets crowned by Kukoc on the other end.

Man they're isolating Kukoc against Alonzo. I feel bad for him, he's getting triple teamed when on offense and Kukoc is killing him on the other end.

Kukoc was so much fun to watch. Versatility at his size was unreal.
