Lakers should still make the playoffs. Pretty confident they'll dispatch the Warriors(or Rockets) easily and then beat the next opponent.

If the Thunder or Wolves nab the 1st seed, it'll be a very tough series for both teams. If the Nuggets nab it, can't see the Lakers winning that now. Think they'd rather face them later on.

Playing back to back elimination games against teams who will shoot threes…seems like a lottery to me unless James and AD play their best games at the same time.

Are you a betting man? If you are, you should take the lakers to make the playoffs. Odds are 2.6x for them to make it.

You seem pretty confident the lakers would beat GS and then win at dal or at sac.

This team is comically bad defensively.

They’ve missed their two best perimeter defenders in Vincent and Vando most of the season. They’re also playing the #2-ranked oRTG in Indiana. On both fronts, tough.

Who needs defense when you can score 150 in 4 quarters i guess...

My guess they will finish with 45-46 wins, so that post IAT drought might cost them a 50W season

Dafuq? Who said anything about judging him for it? I just said I find it boring. I'm simply not interested in listening to someone who's been crafting an optically optimized and sanitised public persona since they were 18. Why is this such an issue lol.

And the first thing they were talking about were what intangibles makes a player great, which seems like it'd be pretty generic to me but I didn't listen past 10 minutes so who knows.

You mentioned he was boring, I explained why he comes across as boring based on exactly you you mentioned (crafted persona) and I said this podcast is an opportunity to look a little past that.

There is no issue with it, but you just said you stopped after 10 minutes, so you barely gave it a chance.

It really doesn't matter I just tried to give some context as to reason behind why he is deemed 'boring' but to each their own.

That podcast is clearly going to be more for Xs and Os nerds and philosophizing about basketball in order to generate higher level discourses. It's not everyone's cup of tea. Some people like being spoon-fed narratives as their form of entertainment and care very little about nuances and insights into what makes players tick.

LeBron seems to be a regular joe with God given abilities and dedication. Just a chill, goofy, and nerdy guy overall. I don't really find it bland tbh but I guess most people can only conceive of NBA players being interesting if they're portrayed in the Suave and mysterious manufactured demeanor Jordan was presented in vs LeBron just being presented as an average smart guy

Is this directed at me? I find MJ and Kobe's personas exceptionally cringe.
You said to me “I will give you scissor seven fine quality animation".

You left then but you put flat mediums which were not good before my scissor seven".

What do you take me for, that you treat somebody like me with such contempt?

Last couple games he's really started out slow making shots. First half he was 2 for 7 and 2 for 10. But, as he is prone to do, he made it up for it with very good second half shooting. This guy just blows my mind, what he's still doing.

Tbfh, this differential shouldn’t pop as much as one would want it to upon realizing more of LAL’s separation in this regard is on the defensive side than offensive. For example, this year - the median league FTA/FGA rate is .192.

On offense, LA is about .21 (in the top 5) whereas they’re a .155 or something like that in defense (2nd). That adds up over time

They don't foul because Ham doesn't guard the 3pt line. So teams brutalize them from 3

The Suns lost tonight. I’m assuming Lakers have the tiebreaker over them as virtue of the 3-2 season series. If so:

LAL - 39-32
Phoenix - 42-30

Need 3 more wins than them to get into the 7-8 game.

LAL ends season playing: Bucks, Grizzlies, Pacers, Nets, Raptors, Wizards (on road), Cleveland, MN, GS at home, then at Memphis and New Orleans to close the season.

Phoenix ends season playing: Nuggets, Thunder, Pelicans (on road), hosts the Cavs, Timberwolves, Pelicans, and Clippers, then plays Clippers, Kings, Timberwolves on road.

As an example, 7-4 for LAL and 4-6 for Phoenix could get it done. We’ll see

Looking at the standings, we’re not out of the 7/8, but will be tough

Win predictions

Dallas: 6-9 wins. 48-51 wins
Kings: 4-5 wins: 46-47 wins
Suns: 4-6 wins: 46-48 wins
GS: 7-9 wins 43-45 wins
Hou: 5-7 wins: 41-43 wins
Lakers: 6-9 wins: 45-48 wins

So I got Dallas as the 6th seed

Then it’s likely between the kings, suns, and us for 7-9

I got GS at 10

I actually think we should end up in the 7/8, but likely the 8th seed

The issue is we are horrible on the road and very good at home

Did Lebron tweak his ankle just to avoid playing in Milwaukee? Apparently some people are asking.
