Top 15 Players

Post#1 » by C'mon Cavs » Thu Feb 11, 2010 5:05 am

I feel that a lot has changed in the last year in regard to the top 15 players in the league. Injuries and age have caught up to some guys who were in my top 15 last year, most notably Yao, KG.

On the other hand, some players have really skyrocketed up my top 15 with their great play this season including Durant and Carmelo.

With so much movement in my top 15 over the past year, I'd like to see how mine compares to other posters.

1. LeBron
2. Kobe
3. Wade
4. Durant
5. Dwight
6. CP3
7. Carmelo
8. Dirk
9. Bosh
10. Duncan
11. Roy
12. Gasol
13. Nash
14. Deron Williams
15. Billups

Fringe: Joe Johnson, Boozer, Pierce

1. LeBron
2. Durant
3. Wade
4. Nash

7. Melo
8. Kobe
9. Gasol
10. Dwight
11. Roy
12. Williams
13. Paul
14. Billups

Numbers 2-13 are pretty close, and I could see a case for pretty much any order. But this is the way I see it.

Whoops, forgot about Bosh haha. I'd put him at 14 and knock Pierce off.

Trying not to look at other lists to taint me...

1. Lebron--no brainer at this juncture.
2. Duncan--this season he's been the beast of old
3. Kobe--its sort of frightening how he'd play without all the injuries
4. Melo--the kid's really stepped up
5. Dwight--minus the offense he's still the preeminent defender in the league
6. Wade--lackluster season...I've got no doubt he's still got what it takes to be #2 on this list any time.
7. Durant--defensively he's still a notch below most, but this kid's going to be rising fast on this list.
8. Dirk--amazing offensively...he's on my fantasy team, so maybe I'm a bit jaded by his season.
9. CP3--Personally I think he's a tad overrated, but the dude made major strides this year.
10. Deron--Personally I think he's underrated.
11. Bosh--Really been impressive this year.
12. Roy--He's been doing work, especially with all the injuries.
12. Nash--Seems revitalized this year. Still a ridiculous offensive player and a ton of fun to watch.
13. JJ--I don't want him on my team for the max next season, but he's doing amazing thigs w/ Hotlanta
14. Gasol--Injuries aside, he's been proving himself continually this season.
15. Pierce--He's still got it.

I was referring to the Spurs record... which is sub-par for a #2 player in the league with a solid supporting cast

His supporting cast doesnt play like a solid one. Parker, Gyno and RJ are not as good as they were for different reasons, and there is not even one legit PF or C other then TD on this team.

Why is Duncan 10th when he is having one of his best statistical years?

Also is Wade still top 3 right now?

Maybe a bit too low, but I wouldn't rank him any higher than 7th. Yeah, I would say Wade is still 3rd, or at worst 4th.

Where's your list?

Steve Nash is way too low on most of these lists. He's easily at the very least top 10.

Duncan #2, huh? You know it's 2010, right?

The reality is Duncan has been having an outstanding year despite what our record might tell you otherwise..He is playing the most efficient ball of his career since '05...the last year before the start of his decline all at 33. He has absolutely no defensive help which is why our defense slipped out of the top 5 for the first time since the year we tanked for him..Duncan's still a pretty damn good defender even though he doesn't always put in full effort..

It's funny how some question others for putting Duncan at 2 on their lists, and then put Kobe at number 2 on their own. Duncan has been better than Kobe this year imo.
