From one of the last Mock Drafts before the NBA Draft Combine:

19. Atlanta Hawks: Anzejs Pasecniks (Latvia, C, 1995)

Already one of the Spanish ACB's breakout young players, Anzejs Pasecniks may have moved the needle for himself with 24 points in 21 minutes April 23.

Difficult to miss, standing 7'2", he's quick off the ground with soft hands around the basket, shooting 66.2 percent on the season.

With his campaign still going and NBA teams looking for last-minute sleepers, contagious interest could make Pasecniks a candidate to rise this month, particularly if he can build on last week's performance. Turning 22 years old in December, he's automatically eligible for the draft.
Bleacher Report

Knowing very little about him, at first glance this seems like a good fit.

19 Hawks
John Collins, PF, Wake Forest: Collins was ranked 230th in the Class of 2015, according to 247Sports. But he still developed into a player who averaged 19.2 points and 9.8 rebounds this season and emerged as a legitimate NBA prospect. In other words, he's one of this draft's most surprising stories and the type of thing Wake Forest coach Danny Manning can use to influence recruits going forward.

There is a whole first round mock here put up a couple hours ago here from Gary Parrish... http://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/2017-nba-mock-draft-jazz-could-snag-kentuckys-none-and-done-diallo/

So Diallo actually left UK? I think that should be our guy. An Explosiveness, high-upside guy is what we need, and if he's just going to fall in our laps, then we should run to the podium.

He is now my pick for our selection:

John Collins (Wake Forest, PF, Sophomore)

After leading the country in player efficiency rating, there won't be a need for John Collins to play five-on-five at the combine. Scouts have already seen him consistently punish opposing front lines in the ACC.

From here on out, he'll look to sell himself during athletic testing and workouts, where he'll want to make teams believe his jumper can become a routine weapon.

He won't be able to improve his questionable defensive credibility over the next six weeks. But shooting well for scouts and executives should help Collins maximize his stock. At the least, he should be viewed as a pick-and-roll target, low-post scorer, mid-range threat and offensive rebounder.

Take Justin Jackson and play him at the 2 guard spot.

Come back around and take Swanigan at #31

When was the last time a franchise got a top pick and made the Conference a Finals in the same season?

The Hawks should trade up to get Leaf, but if the Hawks want a project at 19 then the Hawks should take Harry Giles

Kris Willis: Given the current state of the roster, I think going the best player available is the appropriate route. The Hawks need to add talent no matter the position.

Brad Rowland: Best player available. Drafting for need is always a perilous proposition and it absolutely should not be a consideration here.

I'm all about that Best Player we can get...regardless of position.

If we're seeking a player with star potential at 19. And the best player available regardless of position...

I'd have to think Harry Giles is worth the gamble.

His injury history is of great concern. But, by all accounts, he has the potential to be something special. If our med staff clears him...I'd take him in a heartbeat.

I hear ya Jamaal, but #19 is low odds. Until the draft my position will be move up, get more picks, get younger.

There are quite a few senarios to improve the Hawks draft. I've already proposed trading DH and Baze while taking on bad contracts as a means to get picks. Philly has three seconds. Might could pick one up. Maybe a S&T which would be ideal with Sap. Trade that minny pick for a decent second this year...

Hawks could become major draft players, perhaps even working up in the draft

I just hope that the draft reveals a serious youth/talent movement as the Hawks priority.

I really like the idea of moving up and grabbing someone that might fall in the draft. Justin Jackson falling to our pick would be a pretty good deal too.

Return to Atlanta Hawks
