I suppose. But if he refuses to mature and advance his game, he will continue to get overlooked for All NBA, All Star and Team USA selections.

There are consequences to being stubborn and just doing what you want at the expense of everyone else.

If it weren't for Trae, the Hawks would be even worse. Obviously there are some improvements that he can make to his game (shot selection for example), but the overall roster is not as talented as other rosters in the league.

Dejounte is one guy that really needs to have a bounce back season. He had an All-Star caliber season in 2022, but regressed significantly last year (he was barely a top 50 player in the league last season). Trae in comparison was still a top 30 player. Also, Hunter needs to play better (he's been a disappointment ever since he was drafted 4th in 2019); his lack of consistency is maddening.

Maybe. But Hawks also passed on Luka and Shai Gilgeous Alexander in the 2018 Draft. They passed on Tyrese Haliburton in the 2020 draft.

All of those dudes are highly regarded by coaches, players and fans around the league. And they all were All Stars and FIBA Representatives this year...Awards and recognition Trae desires but missed out on because of his less than stellar reputation.

We went with Trae, and even though he's one of the productive players in the league, he's also one of the most disrespected and disliked.

The fact other stars don't want to play with him makes it more difficult to improve the team.

There's nothing shameful about Trae not being as good as Luka or Shai (both of those players are amazing). However, Luka and Shai were overrated last season (they should not have made the All-NBA First Team because their teams missed the playoffs).

Trae should continue working on his game and playing as best as he can instead of trying to pander to biased NBA reporters/journalists.

Your last point would also apply to Luka and Shai. The Mavs haven't signed any other star players in free agency since he has been there (Kristaps and Kyrie were acquired in trades). And the Thunder haven't signed any other star players in free agency since Shai has been there.

Trae Young is more talented than any of those dudes...The problem is that he's a jack*ss.

Luka and Shai are better than him, which is nothing to be ashamed of for the record. IMO Trae is not a jackass.

Trae will always have the 'traded for Lika' tag tied to him. He had a rough SL and the first month of his NBA career and was labeled a bust. There are those who can't get past the fact that he has so far exceeded their expectation. The players that don't like him are probably the ones he's nutmegged :D.
Hawks need to win.

Everyone forgets the real reason why we traded Luka for Trae. I like to imagine where they hawks would be right now, if that guy lived up to his potential... :banghead:

That 2019 draft class was pretty brutal. (Hunter, Culver, Reddish, Hayes have all disappointed.)
But, imagine if we'd gotten a Desmond Bane *Keldon Johnson* or a Ty Herro with that Luka/Dallas Draft pick.

History would be far kinder to the original draft night trade...

The image rehab tour continues.
His PR Team has been working OT this summer.

 stop trying to push the 'tour' narrative. He's paid off medical bills/debts a couple years ago, he's won the NBA Cares Community Assist Award last year and this past season, donated to a community center in OK.....all before this offseason.
Sometimes a thing is just what it is.

Trae has done a ton for the community over the years.

But more of it being done in Atlanta and is being covered by local media than in recent years.

This is PR 101. Especially in the lead up to Media Day and Training Camp. It's a masterclass in marketing and Public Relations. Whether it's by the Hawks or Trae's own team -- it's a good sign.

It's not being covered any differently than previous years.

Come on, Jayu. You're a smart woman.

It isn't really normal for local News in a major metropolitan city to attend the unveiling of a new HS Basketball Court. That isn't news.

The local news attended this event because they were invited. And that's okay. TY did a nice thing through his foundation. The school, the Hawks or the foundation invited local media.

And there's nothing wrong with any of this. It's called media relations and it's a pretty standard setup.

Kudos to Trae for doing it. And well played to whoever made the donation public.

Do you know how many courts the Hawks have redone in and around Atlanta that got coverage? All of them, even by the Mayor. It's a regular occurrence around these parts.

Much kudos to Trae but making it an 'image tour' - it's not the way!

Every single one of these events is PR Event.

They even posed for pictures wearing Hawks gear.

That's literally what Media Relations is...

It's still not what you are trying to make it as a 'rehab tour'.

I would say that you're both right, they are community and PR events, and it's not really a "rehab tour". Now, it's possible that even if it's not the first idea for doing that, Trae staff might thought "and it can't be bad to get a bit more All Star votes
