Still, it's nice to have an actual identity that fits our personnel. We are a fast-paced, offensive juggernaut of a team. And it is fun to watch!

Did Indy really steal our model though?
Carlise has been with Pacers since 2021, while we had Nate McM.....so their offenses are nothing alike. So no!
This is Quin's first season installing his offense.

Pacers are a mediocre franchise with an elite head coach playing at a frantic pace with a high scoring offense orchestrated by a top notch offensive engine.

We are the exact same...just a year behind them.

So if we a a year behind them, how did they steal from us?

Cheese and rice, Jayu...

The Pacers are playing the way we should have since Fall 2018 when Trae Young was drafted. Nate McMillan took us back to the stone age offensively.

Lloyd Pierce is the lead assistant coach in Indiana. He's playing with Tyrese Haliburton the way we intended to use Trae Young before Trae and Lloyd started bumping heads.

A solid suggestion to juice the offense when JJ returns.

Could also work if Hawks end up getting Siakam:

Hawks offense shifting back to Trae as Ballhandler.
Is Dejounte being shut out of the offense?

First Question - are we running as much PnR as last season?
I wanted Murry here for the things he did with SAS that I liked.
Quick first step to get to the rim and get to the freethrow line. Rebound the ball for a guard. POA defense. Run the offense when Trae sits. Improve his 3pt shooting (which he has).
Things I'm seeing that he has to clean up.
Early in this season he was driving the ball, loved it, but he has not been doing it enough recently. His dribble is too high which I think does not allow him to get to his spots quickly enough, he dances with the ball too much. When Trae sits, I want him to run the team vs looking for his shot. In the PnR, we take for granted what Trae can do with the type of passes he can make, DJ is just not as adept. His lob throwing is suspect, he prefers a bounce pass or shuffle pass out the PnR, which works ok for OO, not so much for CC.
Quin still has a lot of work to do.

Pacers were pushing the most prolific offense in NBA History, but have now lost 3 in a row since the end of the tourney where Lakers showed the blueprint for stopping that offense.

Milwaukee followed that same blueprint with success last week.

Throwing a wave of defenders at T Haliburton and face guarding him the entire length of the court seems to be effective.

Heat ran a similar gambit at Trae in 2022 playoffs and it caused us to upend our entire offense and backcourt as a result.

These traps and gimmicks no longer are effective against us...which is a relief.

Nice change to find us on the top of shooting rankings again.

We add a post scorer and a couple of slashers and we'll be top of the heap!!
