Rest well, Saddiq.

One of the most likable Hawks players in years.

This guy has nice stuff if you wanted to use em.
Where the offseason has more buzz happens.

Let's have a difficult discussion regarding Bey's upcoming RFAcy.
Rumor was Hawks offered him a similar deal to OO, 4yrs/$62 mil which he declined seeking a contract similar to Hunter's, 4/$90.
Now what?
He's going to be pretty much out of next season.
Do Hawks offer him his QO of $6.4 mil, then he becomes an UFA?
Do the Hawks offer him a shorter term deal like a 2yr deal?
Understanding the upcoming Luxury Tax crunch and the current depth issues we've seen this season. Do the Hawks want to pay a guy knowing he won't be available? Harsh I know....but it needed saying.

Offering Bey the QO feels like a professional courtesy they should extend considering how well the young man has carried himself during all the turmoil with the team over the last 13 months.

It's a pretty minor cost that allows him to keep rehabbing with the team/trainers -- and allows us to retain his Bird Rights (I think).
Either way, it feels like the right thing to do and would curry favor with agents/players around the league.

And since we're parting ways with any of Capela, Dejounte, Trae anyway this summer, those potential departures should be sufficient to prevent us from incurring a luxury tax penalty.

All I say is

All I'll say is, if it's another offseason trading players with the intent being to avoid the tax and not upgrade the oncourt talent as we've done over the past 2 seasons - that's a problem for me.
If you want to field a competitive team and avoid the play-in as Ressler preached all of the last offseason - open the purse. Either all in or out.
