Lebron was standing up for his teammate, but it makes him sound like an idiot.

Ray Allen was a FA and Pierce and Garnett were traded. Plus, The KG/PP trade was best for the Celtics, Ray Allen leaving was worst.

LeBron is an idiot, he's shown that in the past, like when he said he could shoot 50-40-90 over a season if that was his priority.

Shut up and enjoy your back-to-back championships, it won't last forever.

People have already made my point for me. What Lebron said is pretty reasonable. Guys ripped on Ray for leaving, even though the Celtics were the ones who wouldn't show Ray any loyalty. I'm also not sure the Celtics were really still a real shot for the title when Ray booked, though of course they weren't rebuilding like they are now. KG could have retired or suffered through it, but like most players he did what was best for him. And so did Ray (and in retrospect it worked for him).

I don't get why this dude doesn't just shut up and play basketball. Him and D-Wade are two of the biggest attention whores in the league, always commenting & getting into with other teams/players in the media. He has a point, but he should really just worry about his own damn team and shut the **** up. And Heat/Lebron fans wonder why they're by far the most hated team amongst NBA fans?

Some of the hypocrisy regarding Ray Allen on this board is unreal. Danny Ainge was the one who did his damnedest to break up the championship team prematurely (trading Kendrick Perkins to Oklahoma, trading Ray Allen to Memphis, continuously shopping Pierce and Rondo, etc.). Not Ray Allen. So Ray Allen eventually saw the writing on the wall and took control of his own destiny. In hindsight, it was certainly the right move. Had he stayed, he would currently be in one of three situations:

A) be the lone veteran presence on a Celtic team that is actively trying to stink up the joint this season
B) be on a pseudo-contender not of his choosing after reluctantly waiving his no-trade clause to avoid being in scenario A
C) be entering into his first year of retirement

None of those situations seem favorable to the one he actually wound up in. So he took a little less money to chase a second ring. Big deal. The Celtics for the past five years have been signing veterans like Shaq and Rasheed Wallace at discounted prices so they could do the same thing. The only difference is that at the end of the day, Allen succeeded in his chase.

I can't even comprehend what this guy is saying. I mean, i do, but my brain short circuits when i try to...

There's a HUGE difference between how Ray left and Pierce and KG being traded. I don't blame KG one bit for waiving his NTC. He was forced into that situation. Pleasure in the job puts perfection in the work. KG would have had no pleasure in playing for a bottom eastern conference team struggling to win 20 games.

LeBron's so caught up in the hype that he can't think beyond his penis.

How much money were the Celtics offering Ray anyway, did he really get much less on Miami? They were keen to give his role to someone else as I recall it.

It was either $7 or $9 million per with a full no trade clause and his role here wouldve been pretty much identical to his in Miami.. come off the bench and gun it. So he basically paid 8 figures to stick it to Doc and Danny.

Link? I distinctly remember talk of him being benched for Bradley. Ainge tried to trade him too if I recall right.

LeBitch just likes to talk out of his ass. That's what happens when uneducated people get a lot of money. They believe everything they say.

Steve Kerr agrees with LeBron. Says Pierce and Garnett did the same Ray did and went to 'greener pastures'.

Allen was benched for Bradley because Bradley was killing it on the court, wreaking havoc on the defensive end like we hadn't seen since the '07-08 season, while Allen couldn't hit the broad side of the barn. We went on a tear with him in the starting lineup.

And yes, Ainge tried to trade him, just like any competent GM should do to improve his team. Nobody's off-limits.

So Ray left after being benched and after Ainge tried to trade him (and right after Ainge traded Perkins, who also didn't want to go). Sounds like Allen didn't owe them any loyalty then, and was just reading the writing on the wall.

Cant find one because google's flooded with this very story right now but it's out there. If I remember right, Ray's counter offer was $12 million per.. and then he bolted to the team that knocked him out of the ECF for the vet minimum.

Guy's not only "classy" and "loyal" but "competitive" as well. The total package.

Ray was benched because he was injured and while he was the starting unit had good continuity, why change that? Ainge will try trade everyone if it's the right deal, but that's him. Not KG, Pierce, the fans or anyone else that didn't want him traded. Allen didn't owe loyalty to Danny, but to KG, Pierce etc. he did. It's like leaving a domestic basketball team with all your friends because one of your teammates mother doesn't like you. There was no writing on the wall considering Danny offered him and KG a No-Trade clause.

I call bull on Ray demanding $12 mill. Ray's not an idiot. Heck, he negotiated one of his Milwaukee contracts without an agent (he just hired a lawyer to do the paper work). No way did he ask for $12 mill per. That's just absurd.
