You mean when they made it to the ECF and took Miami to 7 games?

Look; the Celtics aren't playing very good basketball right now. No one is going to deny that. But this whole "Doc is losing this team" thing is stupid.

Plus, this is the same C's team that just took it to OKC. There is obviously a TON of potential here. Be patient.

It's going to be an up and down season until a point when we go on a roll. Maybe a West Coast trip or something will help them out because right now they are playing with no energy at home.

Yeah. This season is certainly going to cause a ton of gray hairs on this board, but if the OKC game is any indication, this team DOES have it in it to play elite basketball. We might just have to wait a little bit for it to really "click."

I'm pretty sure Doc called them soft last year as well and kg didn't care for it any, but they started playing better. Or it was the year before. Either way, it's happened before. I agree with bertrob that, sadly, rondo is our only enforcer.

I still think once people get the D down better, avery gets back, etc,it all starts falling into place. Being in position on D equals giving up less easy buckets, more rebounds, more transition baskets, etc. Definitely some growing pains now, tho. If the new guys never get it, we're screwed, but I think they will.

Jerseyless Rondo versus the post-Jersey Nets:

Darko definitely wouldve added another dynamic to the whole fight. He seems like he's got alotta bottled up anger since beginnign his NBA career, I hate to be at the wrong end of that when he finally releases it on someone.

Horrible and embarrassing. Of course that this is the 4th or 5th horrible and embarrassing loss this team has this year. I don't even know what to think of this team right now. I am starting to think it was a mistake keeping KG and PP as the cornerstones of this team. You can throw any stats you want at me about PP but I know what I see when he plays. He is still a good player but he is starting to become a shell of himself. Here is a mind numbing stat for you: He is shooting .431 from three point land and .428 for two point shots. His shooting from anywhere beside the three point line is atrocious.

Of course he is not the only problem. The bench is horribly inconsistent every night. We have no idea if Barbosa is going to score 20 points or 2 points. The bigs are not great either. We had freaking Collins in the game. He is one of the worst players in the NBA right now. Green is simply an awful NBA player. He good for one game every 5 games where he teases you into thinking he will be good. Then after that he turns into the invisible man. Go right down the list. Every player beside Terry have not worked out.

It is a forgone conclusion that team is going to get badly out rebounded almost every night so I don't have to go into that. The other main issues are that the defense and offense are inconsistent every single night. Doc was 100% right when he said this team is soft.

I have no idea if the team is going to gel or not. Just because they started off poor last year does not mean they can turn it on all of a sudden. They do have a bunch of new players and that take time. People though (myself included) that this team would be playing much better. Hopefully this team gets better.

Like the great Bill Parcells used to say. You are what your record says you are. This is an average team and their 8-7 record reflects that.

I listened to postgame from Doc/KG and they both seemed to mention that the new guys are clueless. They think that simply putting the Celtic jersey on makes them "Celtics" and that they need to bring it every night. The urgency it not there with the new guys

boy.....rondo shoving was completely useless....
i've been playing basketball for 15+ years and the contact between humpries and garnett was nothing too serious IMO.
it was just a hard foul rondo just overreacted .
rondo SHOULD be the face of the franchise, but he still lacks a lot of maturity....really disappointed

^^ wow thats unbelievable... i think that was a message for Green-Wicox-barbosa- who knows? maybe lee too. Bass has been more aggressive than ever running the floor, battling on the glass and going for the rebs, and really trying... Green its the guy that we need to play like that! but the guy looks so out of it. :-?

Interpret the stats you quoted correctly, Joey sweetheart. Provide context.

14 games in:

1. He was shooting 43.1% from 3 which is OUTSTANDING by anyone's standard.

2. Overall, he was shooting 42.8%. That number is 2.2% below the EXCELLENT & EFFICIENT 45-50% he has shot overall during the last 5 years. And that number was a terrible 35-40% 6-7 games ago because he got off to a very poor start with 2 point shooting. In other words, he has been shooting dramatically better from EVERYWHERE during the last 6-7 games (until last night). That is called a very POSITIVE TREND UPWARDS, Joey. And his PER of 20 after 14 games was excellent.

That is not a "mind-numbing" comparison. That is OUTSTANDING 3 point shooting & that is suboptimal 2 point shooting which WAS RAPIDLY RISING (not counting last night's disaster).

He is STILL an excellent (not good) player who, more than likely, will be an All Star again this year. He is far far far from becoming a "shell of himself."

Oh gosh, I forgot. He was won 3 of our first 8 VCs (& easily could have won 2 more). AND he hit the clutch, game-icing 3 in OT VS the Wiz in DC & VS the Magic in Orlando 3 days ago.

I WILL grant you that, at age 35, he can only be vintage Truth in stretches & explosive quarters/halves. Sadly, he HAS slowed down a bit. Even I must accept this. That is why the failure of Jeff to provide us with high quality back-up minutes so far has hurt us very much.

I agree with you that the team has been very inconsistent, has a mediocre record, & we have significant defensive & rebounding problems. However, I will not stop believing that we can work things out in time & become a very good team by the ASG & an even better team by the playoffs. AB will help us immensely, & Danny will make a trade for Gortat, Andy, Big Al - only PP, KG, RR, & AB are not available to trade.

Joey, call it like you see it, but keep the faith, goddamit. And NEVER EVER EVER underestimate Paul Pierce. He has plenty left to give us during this season & next!

Truth will lead us to #18 in June 2013!
