Monster trade coming

Just got home from some Monday night after work drinks, yeah I know.

Anyway, one of the connected guys at my work mentioned the Celtics are pushing for the following deal (I also read a similar idea from a poster in a thread here)

Golden State in:
Chris Paul

New Orleans in:
Rajon Rondo

Boston in:
Stephon Curry
Andris Biedrins

With more moving parts to come. The added rumor is that the Warriors are convinced they have Tyson Chandler. And they are trying to pair Paul with Wright, Lee and Chandler. NO word on what they plan to do with Ellis, trade him for a smaller contract or keep him.

It does address two needs for us, but I don't see why we would commit the 3 years $27+ million owing to Biedrins.

There most be more to this that we don't know about. I don't know if there's any weight behind this, but any rumor is worth reporting I think.

A bit of a sideways move for us. Is Curry going to make us any better than Rondo? You can understand Paul as he is genuinely better, but Curry? Does he help us get free agents with our cap space next year?

Not a good deal for the CELTICS, Rondoo to me is worth more then Curry.

If this is true we better be getting a ton of first rounders in next years draft, because it is sideways city.

Curry is a great shooter and a very good passer/playmaker. Defense will never be there, but neither will Rondo's shot.

Biedrins is fodder, who would play backup center if KG doesn't make him cry first. Rebounding and nothing else. No confidence and a bit of a Vin Baker problem.

I call BS on this. We can just trade Rondo for CP3 if we are the ones sending Rondo to NO.
Why does this need to be a three team trade?

Curry is a great shooter, but he is not a very good passer/playmaker. At all. Our team would take a massive step backwards. Remember when Rondo would be out and our offense would stall? We would now look like that all the time.

And Bierdrins? The same guy who GS fans thought would be amnestied? The guy who took a massive step backwards last year? He stinks.

I would be shocked if this happened. Danny has worked towards having a ton of cap space next year and this deal would kill that hard work

If the big 3 were all 3 years younger, I would like this. I don't get Biedrins being in the deal.

I love Curry's ability to space the floor though.

Did they offer any kind of explanation on this? Why not just deal Rondo for Paul?

Curry seems like a rich/mentally-healthy man's Delonte West. And they either really like Biedrins or have someone lined up to take him in a separate deal.

Not sure what to think of this, if true, mainly because I don't know what to make of Curry's PG skills. We would give Biedrins a year to show what he could contribute and we would then amnesty him unless he surprised us (in which case maybe he is somehow a key piece in an offer for D12).

More generally, I would much rather have a confirmed superstar (CP3) than Curry/Biedrins, so I have no clue why DA would bother dealing with GS here. Rondo to GS, Curry to NO, and CP3/Biedrins to us makes much more sense IMO.

I'd love to get Dorell Wright out of that kind of deal too (we would throw in Green), but that'd probably be a tough sell.

Well we do need a center and maybe he would improve with the Celtics. I'm a huge fan of Curry so I dig it and obviously these aren't all the players involved but just the ones "his connection" knows for sure.

Only way this happens is IF we know for sure that we have no chance at Dwight, and that we've pissed off Rondo beyond the point of no return.

If we could move Biedrens for like a Josh Smith or just someone to come off the bench and score and then sign a decent Center to a short term deal then absolutely.

NO!!! CP3 or nothing even if he leaves Boston next summer I'd still take a rental on him. If he bolts(I doubt it) we can trade/amnesty Pierce for total rebuild.

Interesting.

But this trade SUCKS. Absolutely unacceptable.

It doesn't make C's any better and it messes up cap space.

We shouldn't trade Rondo unless we're getting CP3 or Dwight. Screw Danny if he makes this kind of deal.

Also, I shudder to think what being sent to New Orleans would do to Rondo. Kid would collapse in on himself. Depression is an understatement.

EDIT: I'm sure Doc re-signed for 5 years because he knew Stephen Curry and Beans were in the works.

I don't want to out my friend, but his dad has been very close to the Celtics for years. With that being said, I have heard of a few transactions before they happened in the past through him, but nothing big like this.

I'm dubious to whether it's true or something that has just been bandied around. When Danny acquired Ray and KG, I don't think any of us knew what was going on. I was quite certain we were trading for Rashard Lewis to pair with Paul. I'm glad that we didn't, haha.

Anyway, back to the supposed deal. I agree, it doesn't make sense financially. If we were getting Udoh or Wright in the deal, I could accept it as a lifelong Celtic fan, but as it stands without seeing or knowing the extra moving parts, I'm in with the majority, no thanks!

I like Curry, but I would like him to be paired with a slashing shooting guard with shut down D, and we're not getting one of those for cheap (I miss Tony Allen).

I do not think trading for Chris Paul is the best option. He has regressed after the injury and doesn't want to be here. We should try and swing some sort of deal for Felton and Oden. I like the idea of really swinging for the fence. Ship out Rondo and JO for those two, and pray that Oden recovers. His effect on a game is huge, and he is due to have a healthy season. Felton gives us some offense at the point, and he's a decent defender and good facilitator. That's the kind of move we need. And if that backfires, we don't re-sign Oden, and we have Felton on a shorter contract than Rondo.

Rondo for Felton and Oden? No offense but are you on crack?

You don't trade a young All Star on a good contract for anything less than a superstar.
