Jeff Green - Fat Lady Sings - Deal Official - Page 8
The other thread was locked because of the speculating done on the injury.
Could the lack of a deal be because, whether seemingly healthy or not, the Celtics are unable to get insurance on Green's proposed deal?

Very well could be.
I'm sure they don't want to be stuck should anything (even not heart related) happen to Green.

Re: Jeff Green Uncertainty
I am not in the insurance business but if I am an insurance company Green would be a tough sell. If that is the case then Ainge and company may have some trepidation about signing Green to that contract.

Yeah I'm starting to get a bad feeling about Green's health.

Re: Jeff Green Uncertainty
I think Green's deal is just about managing the cap what they can move to later years so they can stay under a threshold whether it is the tax limit or the apron. He is doing interviews and apparently playing everyday so that part doesn't seem to be a concern.
As far as the insurance you can always get insurance it is just a question of how much it costs. That may actually be the hold up that the further you get from the original finding and surgery the lower the cost so they may well put it off till training camp.

Re: Jeff Green Uncertainty
I'd agree that the hold-up seems to be cap management, but it really looks like they were done making moves this offseason two weeks ago.
Which leads me to believe that it is about minimizing their risk by waiting to see how his heart responds to these early workouts. Could be as innocuous as that, really. And that is not an unfair thing for them to ask Falk for.
However... I do lend some credence to what viphost said in the other thread. I know guys like him, and they are definitely plugged in to first person accounts of what is being discussed wrt players and teams. That's definitely troubling.

I never believe anybody on a message board claiming to have inside sources...never...
After Celtic-Thug came and trolled us all, I just never follow anything from anybody that tells me he has some inside info.
And I do believe Jeff Green will play the first game of the preseason.

Irony is that insider posts on this board have a relatively huge success rate. Knew about the KG trade way in advance from multiple sources, BfB had a lot of hits this summer, ddb has had some and I think Rondo2Hondo had some good ones on the Rondo trade rumors in December.
I take it all with a grain of salt. I have known several people who are either on or around teams over the years, and have passed on things I have heard. The conversation always turns into a credibility argument when you do that, but not sure why. Most fakes are obvious enough, and it is all just for discussion purposes anyways.
Obviously, this rather extensive delay in Green signing his contract is going to cause some speculation, with or without sourced rumors.

It has to be either insurance and health, or cap management. It's kind of odd IMO.

Re: Jeff Green Uncertainty
BTW, I am shaking with excitement over Green being signed. LOL. Anyone remember that one from bruinsfan23? Kid swore Iverson was coming our way, he was shaking with excitement, Kid stayed in a chat at celticsblog for hours. LOL.
And, Celticsthug's Antoine Walker wants back almost made me choke. Remember he started his own blog? HA!

Re: Jeff Green Uncertainty
You can say he's going to be overpaid (probably so) you can say he's probably a decent player, not a star (definitely) but the reality of it is, if Jeff Green is not signed and apart of this team next year, we will be significantly weaker.

Ryen Gomes is my best friend.
Wasn't a member at the time but I remember reading the thread and you guys devouring him after that Ryen Gomes bit.

Wasn't he tearing up the Greek League last year? He had like 62 points in a half during a semi-final game, didn't he? We could use a 6th man like that, someone who can play two positions (PG and C) and get buckets on demand.

Re: Jeff Green Uncertainty
His value extends FAR beyond the basketball court, too (music, science, medicine, etc). Word is "The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension" is actually a biopic of Tgei.

Re: Jeff Green Uncertainty
I do hope the C's will get a perfectly healthy Jeff Green. Otherwise, I'd say go after Delfino and Blatche with the money that was supposed to go to Green.

Says he feels much better after the surgery and should be good to go. But obvious he's going to say that before the contract is signed and confirmed.

Hopefully for Green pre-heart surgery doesn't become TMac's pre-microsurgery statements.

Over the cap. They can't use that money to sign anyone else. Vet min and BAE are all that is left.

The Celtics are leaving the door open for other moves and Green is being a good soldier about waiting to finalize the contract so the Celtics can stay under the tax. If there were major issues regarding insurance or money, Green wouldn't have been introduced to the media.

A friend of mine is tight with Tgei's sister, word is DA has been in contact but the numbers aren't working... yet. It's probably part of what is tying up Green's negotiations, trying to fit in the cap room for Tgei. This is very good news.
