Jimmy Buckets @ no. 347. 12th man on a rebuilding team. Not too shabby for a 19-yo long-term prospect. I see a lot of Portland Maine in your near future, James!

ESPN is rating the Top 500 players in the league, based on the opinion of how their staff expects the player to contribute, qualitatively and quantitatively, during the upcoming season.

With 30 teams, there are 30 times 15 = up to 450 "jobs available."

I will update the list as players are added:

499. Chris Babb
462. Keith Bogans
424. Chris Johnson
413. Phil Pressey
405. Joel Anthony
388. Vitor Faverani
347. James Young

That's kinda weird that James Young is 347, and ain't played a lick in the NBA. Not even Summer League.

He can stroke it on a team that lacks shooters, and he should get a chance just by virtue of being young on a rebuilding team.. That may be contingent on clearing out Bass and some other riff-raff. I'm not sure how it plays out, but I can understand that line of reasoning.

At first I was annoyed with Pressey being ahead of Johnson, but I think Pressey is the kind of guy that will do more on a **** team and less on a good one.

It will be interesting to see where they rank Smart.

The rankings are a function of the anticipated minutes a player will get, as well as production and efficiency.

Remaining 11 guys on the roster all in the top 300, so based on their rankings, they're all 1st-unit or 2nd-unit quality players, whatever that means.

Gary Harris in at # 280. They are down to #241 and 10 Celtics, plus Evan Turner, remain.

Rondo, Bradley, Green, Sully, Turner, Smart, Olynyk, Bass, Thornton, Zeller

Hmmm... Wallace still hasn't appeared. We're probably gonna see him in the next batch (241-260).

It's a gross oversimplification and lists like these are just exercises in clickbait but with 9 above average players we stand a decent chance of having an above average team, no? Assuming no injuries, good coaching, and the ever-elusive chemistry, of course.
The leaks are real...the news is fake.

I'm just here for the memes.

The league should reduce down to 228 players
I find your lack of faith disturbing.

Aaaaaand, that's all I needed to see to lose any little shred of interest I may have had in these "rankings".

Edit: No indictment meant on your efforts, Jammer, to keep the list updated. Just ESPN.
