So pissed I don't have Starz right now. I usually only keep it when Power is on. May need to reup. Leftovers Season 3 is on point by the way.

Lastly, GOTG 2 today! Cannot wait....

May re-up with Starz at the end of June as well for Power. GOTG was excellent, I thought. They've done really well by this franchise I think. If it was a Marvel property, each story could exist just fine without the branding as its own encapsulated narrative.

Yes. GOTG was amazing. The humor and heart were perfect. Loved it and didn't want it to end.

watsonthedragon wrote:Watching The Leftovers and Fargo right now, both are absolutely killing it. Sprinkling in some of The 100, which is surprisingly good and gritty after looking like a typical teenage drama the first few episodes. Also just finished Legion recently, probably my favorite Marvel related production so far. Dan Stevens and Aubrey Plaza were both amazing. We're in the golden age of television, that's for sure.

Based on the fact that you like two of my favorite shows, I'm tempted to watch the 100. But it looks so bad. Haha.

Tough show to watch. Apparently they're gonna have a second season. Not sure how that's gonna work. Not sure if you can make these characters as compelling now after you know what you know. But that last episode was truly difficult to watch. I have a daughter around her age who has had some difficult times. To watch a young girls will to live literally die in front of you in such a horrible way; that was rough for me.

In other news, I just finished the new season of Sense8. I don't know if anyone else here watches it but the writing is excellent and it is one of the most unique and original shows I've ever seen. And it challenges your own senses to watch it.

Anyone else going to metallica at gillette? I can't wait! I like the new album too. From the setlists I've seen it looks like they play 3 from the new album and the rest is greatest hits which I want since I've never seen metallica.

After the show I'm heading up to Hampton beach where I got an airbnb for the weekend and will be celebrating my gf's bday. Going to see a band called Umphreys at the ballroom casino saturday night. I've posted about umphreys before. They are one of my favorite bands. Their guitarist is unreal. Drummer is a beast too!

So this song has been in the news lately.

The movie exists at a strange intersection of sports, cartoons, hip hop, and 90s nostalgia that I'm sure many on here appreciate.

As much as Drake has inserted himself into NBA culture, he'll never do something as cool as LL Cool J's verse.

I really liked "A Bigger Splash." Killer acting (especially Ralph Fiennes, but Tilda Swinton also shines). If you like your movies somewhere in between the mainstream and the artsy stuff, you will likely enjoy this one.

Speaking of Fiennes, the guy has incredible range. His character in this movie is almost the polar opposite of his Amon Göth in "Schindler's List." He was also superb in "The Grand Budapest Hotel" (and many others). And "Strange Days" remains one of my favourite dystopian movies.

Finale of The Leftovers was perfect. Loved the way they book-ended the final season.

Seriously, that ending may have secured that as one of my all time favorite series. I loved season 1 and still each season got better. It was perfectly cast and written. I also think, since it was so character driven, that it would be a great re-watch.

Speaking of the cast, Carrie Coon is killing it in Fargo as well.

Man. This season was amazing. The soundtrack was perfect. Such a different tone. Really going to miss it and I hope Justin Theroux sticks to drama. He's incredible.

What's it about SD?

Per Wikipedia (no spoilers):
In an isolated villa on the little Italian island of Pantelleria, world-famous rock singer Marianne is on holiday with her filmmaker lover Paul. She is recovering from surgery and has lost her voice, communicating only by signs and occasional whispers. He is in recovery from alcohol addiction and a failed suicide attempt. Neither talks Italian but solitude is what both need, until an aeroplane from Rome brings a man neither wants to see.
This is Harry, a brash music promoter who was Marianne's lover until he passed her on to his protegé Paul. With him is Pen, a previously unknown daughter of his who says she is 22.

That's the first few minutes. The movie is about the dynamics of the relationships among these people.

New albums by Matthew Sweet and Thea Gilmore are out. Both great in the humble opinion of this Celtics fan.

Man, I'm so crushed by this news of P from Mobb Deep dying today that I couldn't even care less about any of these rumors, trades or anything else right about now. Hip Hop lost one of its greats today, damn. Phife and now P? This sucks.
