What's up with him? He played half asleep last night. He must be unmotivated with the 1st seed almost locked and playing a B Blazers team but...

I brought some posts up that he model his game after PG because they're comparable players with comparable body types. Tat is already better but there are things that he could copy from PG's veteran game, don't you think?

Ok, I'll use this post to finally express what and weird looking jump shot Tatum has. Might this be reason for his sometimes ugly misses? He seems to heave the ball somehow.

How is it possible that Banchero got to his shoe first?

I'm no Tatum hater, but real talk: every end-of-quarter possession he runs is under the microscope for me.
dribble-dribble-dribble-dribble-chuck isn't going to get this team to the promised land.
the talent around you is ridiculous. Use it!

I will now go make sure everyone stays the **** off of my lawn:)

Stats: The Return.

This is the Celtics net rating with Tatum on the court, and Jaylen/KP/White off.

That's the crazy part, is he had the modern shot profile but he somehow managed to be even less efficient with it.

'Toine probably set the efficiency revolution back ten years single-handedly by giving all the don't-take-too-many-threes crowd an endless amount of ammunition.

JJ Redick explains how he’s seen growth from Jayson Tatum: “It feels like with him, the reads are quicker. Making the right play is just quicker."

Call me a homer, but with 14 games left I still think Jayson Tatum should be MVP. I think people are going to be very surprised in a good way how much JT climbs in the MVP voting.

I think if the Celtics win a ring this June, Tatum will get more MVP consideration next season.

This season the MVP is simply Jokic's -- best player in the league, coming off a title, and most of all was robbed of it last year due to voter fatigue.

SGA has the opposite of voter fatigue (fresh new face!) and will probably finish second, unless Luka does -- Luka is fat and slow and in like 7th place in the West, but 34/9/10 is crazy.

I think Tatum gets 4th over Giannis, given team success. That'll be his 'reward' for being the best player on the best team. Of course, he finished 4th last year -- behind Embiid, Jokic, and Giannis -- so he's not making progress -- but add that title and presumably FMVP to the resume and voters will look at him differently next season.

If Tatum were to finish 3rd this season -- above either Shai or Luka -- then I'd be psyched. Could happen? But his ceiling this year is #2 IMO.

If standings were closer I could definitely see this and yours was also my first take when he was getting snubbed from MVP consideration around All-Star break. Now, I just don't see it as our lead is too big so he's likely to sit out more games than he would have if records were closer and the way we're playing even if he starts he's likely to get a lot of 4th quarters off too so less stat padding opportunities available.

Agreed, and SGA has 1 more year (all next season and post-season) before he starts getting the Tatum treatment in 2025-26 in these votes as well imo... i.e. no longer considered super young and team success only counts if you win it all.

Should be noted that SGA finished a distant 5th last season. https://ak-static.cms.nba.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/46/2023/05/2022-23-Kia-NBA-Most-Valuable-Player-Voting-Results.pdf
But yeah by next year people will be talking about if he can get a team over the hump and/or if it's time to break up SGA and Chet.

Jokic runaway MVP, should be his fourth straight. Tatum will get first team all nba again, three straight isn’t too common, and that’s enough.

Finals MVP much better anyways.

Especially if they lose to the Lakers or Warriors in the first round.

All NBA:
Jokic
Doncic
SGA
Giannis
Tatum squeaks in there but plenty of media members probably mash the LEBRON button or something stupid
