Richard Jefferson brought up a great point. Joe is going to be this team's 3rd coach in 3 seasons. The team changing styles/philosophies so frequently is tough on them. Unless Joe pulls a Nick Nurse, we shouldn't expect such lofty aspirations from him this year.

So much for team continuity and constantly gaining corporate knowledge. 10-year title windows though. Just don't know what speedbumps and potholes will come your way.

Spoiler:
I still want to win a title so bad. :(

Good luck to Joe. Hopefully he'll have plenty of success with the Celtics and keep the off the court distractions to a minimum. I believe this makes Horford the only NBA player older than his head coach for the 2022-2023 season.

"I’m going to be there for him without stepping on his toes as much as he needs,” Stevens said. “But he doesn’t need much. I believe in that strongly. And hopefully I can help him with any questions he has as he goes through it, but sometimes you just need someone who has been there next to you, to be able to go in and let your shoulders down and talk about what you’re going through, and hopefully I can be that for him."

Yeah, well luckily.....

Smart's 9th year in green
Jaylen's 7th year in green
Tatum's 6th year in green
rob's 5th year in green
Al's 5th year in green
Grant's 4th year in green
Pritchard's 3rd year in green
Mazzula's 5th year as a Celtics coach (6th if you count the year as HC of Maine Celtics)

You were saying about continuity?

It's not continuity, but scheme. Unless someone has been closely watching how Mazzula teams play, we can't assume the offensive/defensive philosophies are going to be the same as Udoka or Stevens. Some of our guys have seen it all, but it took half a season to adjust to a new system last season.

That 'new system" was very effective and Joe played a large role in implementing the system so we have no reason to believe he will make any attempt to change the teams scheme from last year.

Yup, definitely! I'm not blaming Joe at all (I suppose it's kind of like a back-up QB being ready to take the starting job when the regular goes down with an injury), but I'm sure he had no idea that he'd be the head guy this season, especially as to how it went down (then again, maybe he did have an idea - who knows! :dontknow: )

Mazzulla was an assistant coach for us last season. He knows the system/schemes that were run as well as anybody. What makes you think he would change anything?

His name should be either Tom Mazzula, or Jim Tommazzula
