Joe Mazzulla is 34 years old
From Rhode Island originally
Played college ball
Seemed to do a fine job with our SL team?
While Ime looks like Uncle Phil, Joe looks somewhat like Carlton
that's what I've got as of now

How everything could possibly go wrong, or try to go wrong for this team since before I was born is the most ironic stroke of bad luck you could write in a novel.

Save for one miraculous year, this franchise is literally cursed. Death, injuries, scandals. Take your pick.

Mazzulla is inexperienced but a good coach otherwise. He will surprise a lot of people.

it doesn't always go the way you'd expect. Are other posters here old enough to remember the start of this infamous coaching career?

Riley returned to the NBA in 1977 as a broadcaster for the Lakers. In November 1979, after the team's head coach, Jack McKinney, was injured in a near-fatal bicycle accident, assistant coach Paul Westhead took over the team's head coaching duties[19] and hired Riley as an assistant coach.[20] With rookie guard Magic Johnson and longtime star Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, the Lakers defeated the Philadelphia 76ers in six games in the 1980 NBA Finals, giving Westhead and Riley championship rings in their first year coaching the team. However, the team lost in the playoffs the next year to the Moses Malone-led Houston Rockets.

Six games into the 1981–82 season, Magic Johnson said he wished to be traded because he was unhappy playing for Westhead. Shortly afterward, Lakers' owner Jerry Buss fired Westhead. At an ensuing press conference, with Jerry West at his side, Buss named West head coach. West, however, balked, and Buss awkwardly tried to name West as "offensive captain" and then named West and Riley as co-coaches.[21] West made it clear during the press conference that he would only assist Riley, and that Riley was the head coach.[22] Thereafter, Riley was the interim head coach, until his status became permanent.

I'm definitely old enough to remember that, although to be honest I don't actualy remember it (perhaps one of the side effects of being that old  ).
I think this does bring up an interesting question. Let's say that Joe gets the job and he does a great job (perhaps even winning it all) - what happens next year. If this is an actual one year suspension (personally I don't think Udoka will be back), and Ume does want to come back, what will the C's do?

Surprised they didn’t go with Stoudamire. I wonder if Tatum pushed for him.

Mazzulla and Hardy (Jazz) will both be 34 when the season starts, making them the two youngest active coaches in the league. One's coaching a tanking team. The other has aspirations of returning to the Finals.

If Tatum and Brown are happy, I’m happy.

Ime Udoka’s bad ass swag was second to none though. That interview after game 5 against the Bucks where he says it will be sweet when we win the next two was some OG ****. Loved that about him.
A new dawn will rise in Boston. ‎#StayLoyal THANK YOU TRUTH!

I wonder if Tatum and brown, mainly Tatum, wanted Joe over whoever else.

Hopefully he can command respect.
