Because I’ve watched him, not the box scores, and can see it. He has good hands and has made quite a few tough shots around the rim because of his touch. He’s not a finished product yet, but we are not talking about a stiff here. To say he is “not athletic at all” for a 7 footer or a center is just silly. I’m not suggesting he is a lottery talent or anything but the ‘greatest Celtics team ever’ had Greg Kite as their 3rd string center. The talent level in the NBA as a whole, not necessarily the cream of the crop, is just so much better than back then.
Besides, if you get 3 rebounds of your own misses before putting it in, that 0.533% isn’t so bad.
I'm watching the games too and I see him missing everything though he does grab his own misses. The end result I guess is fine but the missing everything part doesn't bode well for his touch.
He is big but he definitely doesn't move very well. I don't know what you consider athletic but a guy who moves worse than Kornet is not athletic in my books. He jumps well though.
I like what he's given us so far but people be acting like he's Patrick Ewing.
He was a top five finisher among centers in the max vertical leap, standing vertical leap, lane agility and three-quarter sprint test at the combine…
