And a lot of Queta's rebounds do come from rebounding his own misses, so his rebound numbers are a little deceiving.

Rob showed a nice touch from 10-12 feet though. I hope he gets over his injury issues and blossoms in Portland.

This season he's .533 on shots within 3 feet of the rim. Maybe he actually has great touch and you just need to let him take a bunch of shots to settle down but I don't know how you look at the way he's shot and think he has a good touch.

Because I’ve watched him, not the box scores, and can see it. He has good hands and has made quite a few tough shots around the rim because of his touch. He’s not a finished product yet, but we are not talking about a stiff here. To say he is “not athletic at all” for a 7 footer or a center is just silly. I’m not suggesting he is a lottery talent or anything but the ‘greatest Celtics team ever’ had Greg Kite as their 3rd string center. The talent level in the NBA as a whole, not necessarily the cream of the crop, is just so much better than back then.

Besides, if you get 3 rebounds of your own misses before putting it in, that 0.533% isn’t so bad.

I'm watching the games too and I see him missing everything though he does grab his own misses. The end result I guess is fine but the missing everything part doesn't bode well for his touch.
He is big but he definitely doesn't move very well. I don't know what you consider athletic but a guy who moves worse than Kornet is not athletic in my books. He jumps well though.
I like what he's given us so far but people be acting like he's Patrick Ewing.

Perkins was starting center during 2008-10 run and he was less athletic for example. I think Queta is athletic because he can catch lobs, adjust in air and dunk. He runs the floor very well for a big guy with a 7-4 wingspan and gets up reasonably quickly to try to block shots despite fouling too much. Last night he made a play on a loose ball where he was running, falling a little bit and reached low to tap it to a teammate. His lateral movement is clunky for sure.

He was a top five finisher among centers in the max vertical leap, standing vertical leap, lane agility and three-quarter sprint test at the combine…

I mean we are talking about a 3rd string center and I would say his size and athleticism suggest he could be a solid backup for a 10 years assuming health. He sure has a lot more going for him than Mark Blount did when he was a reclamation project.

Did Queta just hit 50% of his Threes?
Keep practicing, buddy.

Horford didnt do threes until he got to the Celtics, the first time.

I think his shooting touch on those little hooks is pretty good, but a little body contact throws it off. He kind of rushes the shot before gathering, which plays well to his quickness but he should work on going up under control. The guy is phenomenally quick to the ball under the hoop, raises a lot of hell under there, and has a lot of natural talent.

It's the NBA not an empty gym. Nobody is going to let you go up untouched for a layup/dunk. If he can't make shots at the rim through marginal contact then he doesn't have good touch by NBA standards. That's fine by the way, he does enough other stuff that he can still be a useful player in spite of that.

Queta has great energy but it doesn’t appear the game has completely slowed down for him quite yet. Of course, more playing time is the best way to cure this dilemma and I’m fine with that. He’s already more impactful than Kornet. Convert him to a standard deal and force feed him some minutes.

He was minus 3 in five minutes vs Memphis in his first outing. Every other game, in limited minutes vs Atlanta, Philly, Orlando and Orlando again, the Celtics have gone positive with Queta on the floor, +5, +3, +13, +8. So far, he helps the team win.

Update after the Golden State, Sacramento, and Clippers games: -3, +5, +3, +13, +8, +10, +3, +14. That's net +53 for a two-way player over 8 games in limited minutes against top competition.

Man, does he feel like found money. Seems amazing that we were able to sign him to a two way.

Queta is first in the entire league in OREB% (min. 60 minutes played) at 19.7 just in front of Drummond at 19.2 (no one else is above 17). He is also 3rd in REB% (min. 60 minutes played) behind Drummond and Sharpe at 19.9 (Capela is the only other guy above 19).

Queta is also second in net rating and first in offensive rating (min. 60 minutes played). Taking full advantage of his minutes at the moment.

Weird how violently he splays his shooting arm out after releasing the ball. Looks the same every time which is a good thing. But you'd think an NBA player with a cavalcade of shooting coaches around them would hold their follow-through more simply.

Queta is really making Kornet expendable.
Kornet (as well as Mykhailiuk, Stevens and Banton) are not fully Guaranteed until the NBA date for all Contracts: Jan 10, 2024.
