Wow, I can't believe Brogdon was that butthurt about it... wtf did he expect, he was the 6th man and an expendable good trade piece... were we not suppose to look for a good trade if its out there? Ridiculous.

Robert Williams is done, got ruined by Boston doctors.. I'm OK with him going. He's not the same guy any more.

I'm a little concerned about the Celtics bigs even though Williams is just a part-time player

Where in this report does it say Brogdon is butthurt?

This trade gets the Celtics closer to Banner 18. That's it - that's why we did this.

Rob was injury prone since college, before we drafted him. Injury concerns were a major reason why he dropped all the way to 27th pick in the draft. Jay Bilas of ESPN said he was a top 5 talent in that draft class.

Well, this move opens up a roster spot.

Hopefully we sign Biyombo.

It’s the right move.

Like I said yesterday, the Celtics were willing to risk overpaying, because it makes them INCREDIBLY talented at the top end of the roster.

Top 5-7 guy, top 20ish guy, and two top 30ish guys.

win-win. portland gets a vet and a still developing C albeit injury-prone. they also get some nice draft capital. we get a major upgrade at the G spot, and regain our defensive mojo. he can't be worse than marcus on offense, can he? can he???

was really hoping we could keep the GSW 1st. oh well.

Holy Bleep!

Not gonna lie… we lose a big whose time line works and now rely on Horford to last to age 39. That said….I love this. I also worry about extending both White/JRue.

Championship experience is absolutely huge. Jrue is a guy who knows exactly what it takes to win a ring

Jrue is arguably our 2nd best player.

Now, if you want to say Jrue is our 2nd best player..that means during the 2024 playoffs our 2 best players are 26 and 33. Now, our title odds start to look much better, considering championship teams are typically led by more experienced duos:

Image

We now have a top 5 player (Tatum) and 4 of the top 30 players in the league (Tatum, Jrue, JB, KP).

Also, every championship team in the past 14 years has had a guy with a 30% assist rate or higher. Jrue was at 34% last season. Before making this trade, the celtics player who had the highest assist rate last season was only 21%.

And out of the last 21 championship teams, 17 of them had a player who had previously won a ring. Prior to this trade, our roster had 0 guys on it with a ring. Now, we have Jrue who played a huge role in the Bucks winning the 2021 title.

It's a bummer to give up Rob, but as I've posted before, the guy simply cannot stay healthy. Constant injuries, constantly having to rest him or manage his mins to avoid injury, needing cleanup procedures, anytime he falls down we're worried that he's hurt again. We just traded 2 of the most injury prone players in the league - now, we have much less to worry about when it comes to guys getting hurt - and having those injuries ruin our title chances.

It took balls for Brad to make this move. He really wants that ring!

Now, sign Biyombo. 16.5% rebounding rate last season and 9.0% blocks rate. Has been effective at times defending Giannis, physical presence in the paint to bang around with Giannis and Lopez..decent passer too.

Wow.

Big offseason.

Love Jrue!!!

Jrue/pritchard
White/walsh/svi
Brown/stevens/hauser
Tatum/brissett
Porzingis/horford/kornett

Need a depth combo guard and good to go.

Might be Blake. Seems like the offer to return is there if he doesn't call it quits.

Return to Boston Celtics
