Damn, I'd be 2nd place if posts that contained tweets by sports hub or WEEI people didn't count

But what do Jim Murray and Michael Felger think about this team?

Since 1997-98, no team has won the NBA title while having the lowest assist rate in the regular season. The Celtics will be the first!

I wonder what Joe and co. saw the past couple of seasons to make this 180 degree turn in terms of ball movement/assists. I remember Ime poking fun at Stevens for having the 2021 team among the worst in that stat category. Did they go like, "we should just be ourselves and not try to be the Golden State Warriors." So they went out and got players who can attack mismatches all over the floor instead of forcing the Jays and co. to become a ball-moving team.

Not criticizing. There's a thousand ways to skin a cat. They have the top offense while doing the one-pass possession thing so who cares. Just curious if they saw that this is their best path to deep playoff success based on personnel and not try hard to transform into something they're not.

It's also way too early to draw conclusions lol.

I would say that it's way too early to draw conclusions.

Also, we just added a guy (Jrue) who's posted an assist rate of 34% or higher 6 times - including last season. So there's reason for optimism..

#1 in the new NBA.com Power Rankings (duh).

BOSTON CELTICS
Last Week:2↑
Record: 5-0

OffRtg: 124.7 (1) DefRtg: 106.5 (7) NetRtg: +18.1 (1) Pace: 101.4 (10)

Last season, the Celtics started 21-5, with their offense having scored an amazing 3.6 more points per 100 possessions than any other team. They’re off to a similarly hot start this year, having scored 4.8 more points per 100 than any other team.

Three takeaways

The Celtics’ first two games last week came with a combined first-quarter score of 86-46 and leads of 37 and 53 points. In only one other game this season (Clippers-Spurs eight days ago) has a team led by more than 35.

They rank last (by a healthy margin) in the percentage of their 3-point attempts (59%) that have come off the catch, but lead the league in pull-up 3-point percentage at 46.3%, up from 33.7% (15th) last season.

Derrick White missed their win in Brooklyn on Saturday, but the Celtics’ regular starting lineup has held opponents to just 88.7 points per 100 possessions in its 72 minutes.

For the second straight season, the Celtics look like a regular-season machine. And this starting lineup looks stronger than anything they’ve had in the Brown-and-Tatum era.

While the Celtics have the league’s best point differential by a wide margin, the second-best mark belongs to the team they’ll visit (for the first of three meetings in the next four weeks) on Wednesday. Jayson Tatum set a Game-7 record with 51 points the last time that Boston and Philly met in a game that counted.

Jayson Tatum was a plus-81 in three games last week.

Week 3: @ MIN, @ PHI, vs. BKN*, vs. TOR

The enemy always gets a vote.

If defenses want to force more passes, they surely can. But the results may be pretty. :D

7 games in, Celtics lead the league in generated OPEN threes (defender within 4-6 feet) but also lead the league in generated TIGHT threes (defender within 2-4 feet). Third to last in frequency of WIDE OPEN threes (defender 6+ feet away). 2nd best 3FG% on those open threes at 39.7%.

Unless we get a better bench this team is too thin to win a title. I think we have a lot of room for improvement with our starters but the bench does not look good snd mazzula is back to his irregular substitution patterns so the chance of developing a cohesive bench is slim at best

Only need 7 guys for the playoffs.

Cs good enough to win it as is.

But that doesn't mean Brad won't do anything to improve this roster.

February is still 3 months away.

Lol I just stumbled across this amazing thread on the GB from 2017 in which everyone weighs in on how the Celtics are stupid. Funny trip down memory lane.
