Asdrubal Cabrera is a second baseman BBJ. They have noodle arm Jhonny at short. I like the Varitek, Thurmon Munson comparison above, though Munson was far better (so my pops tells me).

Beltran compared to Mickey Mantle??? please.

You were probably thinking Asdrubal is a SS and is just playing 2B for the time being, wouldn't be shocked if the Indians made the move with him to his real position by the beginning of next season.

they would be smart, he's a slick fielder who can hit a little. I'd swap him and Jhonny

 obviously you didnt read the op.. its compared to players right NOW.. i didnt make the comparison, but clearly your met hate is evident here as you make it sound like someone compared beltran to mantle when no1 did, all they did was say out of everyone playing NOW hes the only when with even a tiny resemblance.. whod you have in mind? is there a power switch hitting CF with good speed who can hit 35+ homeruns around that im unaware of whose name isnt carlos beltran? who would you say is most like him right now? let me know when you find him.. (this is 2007, not 2000, ken griffey jr no longer plays cf or hits 50 homeruns, andruw jones batted like 220.. so plz dont gimme one of them) good luck in your search

the only one we've seen is Griffey. Met hate? are you kidding me? that would be like someone comparing Jorge Posada to Yogi Berra because he is a Yankee catcher with rings. Jorge is not Yogi, Beltran is not Mantle...end of story

no sh*t.. clearly once again like i said, out of EVERY1 in the mlb, if you HAD to choose like the dude who chose beltran did, who would you choose? no one called beltran mantle, no1 would even think of that ever, that person who made the comparison obviously felt he had to choose some1 instead of the easy way out saying no1 (which is true), but instead he at least made and attempt and said a guy, who like mantle is a switch hitter, like mantle has good speed, like mantle has power(not as much or even close as much, but can hit 40+homeruns), like mantle plays CF, like mantle even plays in NY, yet you come back like some hotshot to try and make him look stupid..

No I just have better things to do than argue with you on a message board.

Beltran is a good comp for Mantle. At least as close as you're going to get out of a CF.

Pedro over Maddux for longevity?

May I point you in the direction of four straight Cy Young awards, including two unanimous, and 11 straight 15+ win seasons?

Rollie Fingers,I'd have to compare him with Mariano Rivera, both are known for there multiple inning saves. I would have said Dennis Eckersley, but he wasnt as great if he had to earn a save longer than one inning.
