Who wants Todd Helton?

Post#1 » by DenverDominance » Mon Apr 23, 2007 6:18 pm

With the way the Rockies have started this season Dan O'dowd will probably recieve tons of calls regarding Helton. SO which team best fits him and who do the Rockies get in return?

I would be as a Giants fan, but would need to send Winn you way just to offset some of the money.. Winns deal is small compared to Heltons, but the Giants are still budget conscience

Question, how come Helton still bats cleanup, when his skill set screams out "#2 hitter"? In fact, there's no one in baseball I'd rather have as a #2 hitter right now. With a speedster like Taveras on base, there's going to be a hole between first and second, ideal for a line-drive hitting lefty. I'd also want to have Helton's otherworldly OBP in front of both Atkins and Holliday.

Helton is hitting clean-up for a couple reasons.

1) He seperates Atkins and Holliday who are both right handed hitters,
which also seperates Helton and Hawpe who are both left handed hittters.
2) When healthy Taveras and Matsui are 1 and 2 in our order, both have unbelievable speed and matsui can handle the bat pretty well.

The Rockies will have to pay for a good portion of that contract to get any team to bite.
