I'm just amazed there is no talk in the national media about Bedard even though he is leading MLB in SO at 121 through his first 100 innings of the year. Yes he is only 5-4, but that has more to do with run support than anything else since he is 34th in ERA in MLB to boot. I believe he should be the lone Oriole All-Star over Brian Roberts although both are having strong seasons.

I also live in Fl and have heard talk of Bedard down here numerous times on the various radio stations.

It's hard to appreciate anything with an organization run this poorly.

But yeah - Erick is having a strong season, despite what his win/loss record may show.

Because the more you say it the more it becomes real. I think there could be a good chance that Bedard can pull off a dark horse Cy Young candecy this year.

Really at 11-4, walking away with the K title this year and the 5th best ERA in the AL I don't see how he can't have a real chance at winning the CY. Take into account that Guthrie his rookie teamate is one of the 4 players with a better ERA than him and that he is only 7-3 I think this really helps his chances. If he dips below Johan's ERA and beats him by 30+ K's (he leads him by 25 at this point in time) I think he might actually have a chance.

If Bedard keeps getting W's and keeps his ERA down and K's up, then hell yeah......he's a legit candidate.

If the O's tank it though, it's doubtful then, no matter what he does.

Besides Dan Haren anyone else in the AL putting up even close to the same kind of season that Bedard is? Seriosly Beckett and Maybe Sabathia might have a say in the Cy but I don't see why Bedard wouldn't be over them. It's not like this an MVP award it should go to the best pitcher that season shouldn't it?

This team should trade him for a top prospect or two in the offseason. You know they are not going to resign him and with his injury history, it is not smart to give him a 6 or 7 year deal. His value is the highest it will be right now as he is having his best season so get peak value for him, possibly a couple of top-level position player prospects.

Chris Ray is the closer. The problem is the set-up men that we paid alot of money for were fools gold. Either way I think the O's would be better off trying to groom some relievers than trying to splurge on them again.

Baez is probably the exception to the rule. Not the rule, itself.

Bedard's on the cheap for the next 2-3 years but I'd consider locking him up long term, i.e. a 4 or 5 year deal and build the rotation around him. It's real simple, yet somehow the Orioles make it complicated.

Jesus...Bedard's going to command huge money. O's announcers said that Bedard's people might be looking for something close to what Zambrano got, and if he keeps pitching like this, they just might have to give it to him.

Every quote a manager or Player has been given about Bedard latley puts him in the class with Peavy and Santana this season. He is the most dominant Left Handed Pitcher in MLB this season and if he follows up next season with anything resembling this season he is going to get Mussina like numbers easy.
