All-Time Orioles Team

Post#1 » by Hawaii » Mon Aug 6, 2007 6:46 am

So who's your All-Time Orioles team? I think there's some obvious choices, and a couple not so obvious. Wish I could've found room for Boog Powell, Miguel Tejada, Mike Devereaux, Mickey Tettleton, Brian Roberts, and Rafael Palmeiro.

C- Rick Dempsey
1B- Eddie Murray
2B- Roberto Alomar
3B- Brooks Robinson
SS- Cal Ripken Jr.
LF- Brady Anderson
CF- Paul Blair
RF- Frank Robinson
DH- Harold Baines

P- Mike Mussina
P- Jim Palmer
P- Hoyt Wilhelm
P- Dave McNally
P- Gregg Olson (closer)

Mine would be:
C - Dempsey (no question)
1B - Eddie Murray (although Boog Powell is close)
2B - Davey Johnson (I can see Brian Roberts coming close)
3B - Brooks Robinson (no question)
SS - Cal (D'uh)
LF - Uggg ... Ken Singleton
CF - Paul Blair (Bumbry)
RF - Frank Robinson
DH - Baines (I guess)

P - Jim Palmer
P - McNally
P - Flanagan
P - Cuellar
P - Boddicker

Closer - Hoyt Wilhelm (maybe Tippy or Gregg ... not many long termers)

Any All-time Orioles Team that doesn't have Mike Mussina on their list is just plain sour grapes... the guy was the 2nd best pitcher to ever put on an Orioles uniform.
