It's clearly some savvy PR by Braves officials...but it's also just a really nice gesture:
HereThe Braves make a place for Walter Banks at SunTrust Park
...the Atlanta Braves are giving thanks for long-time usher, Walter Banks. The Braves have partnered with Uber to provide Banks with transportation to and from SunTrust Park so he can continue greeting Braves baseball fans. Banks, a fan favorite, will be dropped off and picked up at one of the designated Uber zones at SunTrust Park.
Banks started as an usher at Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium in 1965, first for the Atlanta Crackers and the next year for the Braves when they moved from Milwaukee. Known for his numerical trivia and friendly disposition, Banks, the Braves longest-serving usher, has become a living legend for fans attending games.
Banks has been a Braves usher at both Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium and Turner Field. The partnership with Uber ensures that he will continue to be a part of Braves home baseball games at the new SunTrust Park.
