These next 9 games the Braves need a 7-2 or 6-3 run, vs Nats, Marlins and O's. After that there is a 12 game stretch vs Yankees, Dodgers, Giants and Rockies.

Take advantage while you can!

The Braves have just taken a 3-2 lead in the 7th. Game started super late due to rain.

Ozzie passes Dan Ugga for most homeruns by a Braves second baseman.

Ozzie is going to be a Braves legend when he retires.

He's owning the leadoff position while Acuna is out.

I think it's down to the Braves and Phillies. The Mets just aren't as good and have a harder schedule.

I was watching the game on the Nationals station - MASN in the DC area. Their play-by-play guy said Albies should be in the MVP discussion - even though he's hitting under .260 - because of the way he's picked up Acuna's role as leadoff guy - and still is on pace to drive in over 100 runs - not to mention he's an amazing defensive player. The color guy likes Freddie better - probably because Freddie destroys the Nats year after year after year.

Btw, time to give it up to Fried for his hitting - .342 batting average with a .390 OBP. He got his 6th sacrifice bunt - gotta wonder if they're wasting his bat by having him sacrifice. Plus, he runs the bases a lot faster than a typical pitcher. But he's not even our best hitting pitcher. That's Ynoa - who's 6 of 17 with 2 homers and a double. Speaking of which, I'm guessing Ynoa will be taking Muller's spot in the rotation. And Touki's got Anderson's spot until Anderson's ready. If Ynoa and Touki do well, it shows why the Braves were willing to trade Bryse Wilson - who's done just ok in his 1st 3 starts with Pittsburg.

Awful 3rd inning by Smyly - looked like he was throwing batting practice. He was getting ahead of everyone and then lost them. And the one pitch that got away from him went 58 feet - at most - a wild pitch that scored a run and advanced a runner to 2nd. Every batter that inning hit the ball hard. He's gonna have to get them to swing at pitches outside the strike zone. His stuff in the zone is just too easy to hit today.

Austin Riley saves the game with a brilliant stop in foul ground and perfect throw to 1st - with 2 on in the bottom of the 9th. Will Smith walked 2 and got lucky with a 3rd strike call. At some point, the Braves will likely switch to Rich Rodriquez as closer.

The Braves won 12-2 last night, Albies, Freeman and Duvall lead the way offensively.

Pretty amazing - 2 cycles from his 24 career triples.

Braves win 11-9, back to back series sweeps vs Nats and Marlins. The Braves were up 7-3 in the 7th, luckily they scored 4 in the 8th, because Tomlin and W Smith combined to allow 6 runs in the 9th. 5 by Tomlin, who should be released.

Regarding Will Smith who allowed another HR and can't have clean innings, is Snit really this dumb to not put Rodriguez in the closing role??

Atl gets the day off while Philly loses to lowly Arizona, and NYM loses to LAD. Braves lead Philly by 4 and Mets by 5. And we have the O's - losers of 15 straight - coming up. O's pitching is dreadful, so this is an opportunity for the lineup to have a lot of fun. Of course, the baseball Gods will punish us if we get too cocky.

The Braves extended TDA thru the 2024 season. Good news IMO. Next year should be him and Contreras, and by the time TDA's contract expires, we should have Contreras and Langliers ready.

Wow, AA's made a lot of good moves this year - maybe the Executive of the Year. This one's surprising - because we have Langliers and Contreras in the upper minors both doing very well - but shows the commitment to winning now and the next few years. I like it.

Pretty sure the Braves have the best organizational depth at catcher. At every position, the Braves have quality organizational depth.

Braves signed C Travis d'Arnaud to a two-year, $16 million contract extension with an $8 million club option for 2024.

It's the same contract (minus the option) that d'Arnaud signed with the Braves as a free agent prior to the 2020 campaign. The timing is a little strange since d'Arnaud has struggled when healthy this season and just returned from a lengthy stay on the injured list. However, obviously the Braves are betting on the 2020 version to return. D'Arnaud will turn 33 in February.
