It looks like Gio Gonzalez will be a fixture in Washington for many years.

Nationals signed LHP Gio Gonzalez to a five-year contract extension.
The deal runs through 2016 and also contains team options for 2017 and 2018. Gonzalez was eligible for arbitration for the first time this winter as a Super Two qualifier, so the contract buys out at least one year of free agency. It's not clear at this point how much the deal is worth. Gonzalez, 26, boasts a 3.17 ERA and 184 strikeouts per year since the start of the 2010 season. He was acquired by the Nationals last month for a package of prospects. rotoworld.com

Good for them. But I would think that takes them out of the Prince Fielder race.

I think it's good for both sides. The only problem that I see with is if it keeps the Rangers from pursing Fielder.

Cabrere and Fielder will make for a terrific 1-2 punch. Team is going to put up some huge numbers is my guess.

Tip of the hat to Scott Boras. Almost no market out there, and he finds a way to get Prince a mega-contract. Boras is sickeningly amazing. Make you shake your head and realize with our ownership group, there is almost not hope to keep anyone with Boras as their agent.

There is always a chance, at the end of the day the player makes the final say not the agent. Andruw Jones had Boras as his agent and took a discount to stay in Atlanta when his rookie contract was up. If the player is looking for more money though, we have no chance.
