He pitched fantastic.
Now, I view this 5-1 lead as a must win. We have had to go deep into our bullpen.

That's a frikkin amazing competitor. The good news is that they say he should be ready for the start of next season.

I think this makes Kyle Wright a key player in this series. They've been planning on going with a bullpen game for game 4, but maybe Morton's injury changes that, and they go with Wright in game 4, because they've already used their bullpen heavily in game 1.

And they can replace Morton on the roster - I wouldn't be surprised if they activate either Muller or Toussaint. It better not be Jacob Webb. I don't think it'll be Newcomb - since we have good lefties. A long-shot interesting choice would be 22 year old Spencer Strider - who had a ridiculously high SO rate playing at 5 levels this year - including a couple innings with Atlanta.

Amen. Minter's been an unsung hero in the playoffs, and he was great in avoiding a big inning after Swanson's big error.

Huge win! Came at a cost of losing Morton. Winning game 1 is a great start. Our bullpen has to continue being great. Rosario is hitting everything I love it.

Go Braves!!!!

So, now the expectations for Max Fried in game 2 aren't just to contain Houston's great lineup, but to pitch as many innings as possible - because our best relievers had to work extra last night. If he goes less than 6 innings, it'll be tough. And now, Fried is our un-questioned leader in the rotation - our #1 starter.

Houston's going with Jose Urquidy - who got crushed by Boston in his only post-season game this year. He's 26 and talented and good - but I wouldn't say he's dominant, and he's only got 178 MLB regular season career innings. Otoh, he's got plenty of post-season experience - and a total of 27 post-season innings for his career. He's got a very low walk rate and very good WHIP, but he'll give up a fair amount of homers. Key is to get to him early - just like last night's game.

Textbook D by Ozzie - keeping his glove down and following it up into his mit. He combines great fundamentals with probably the best range at his position. Yes, Ron Washington is probably a big reason the Braves have the best infield in baseball.

Who gets Morton's roster spot? Nobody that I would have guessed.
Spoiler:
It's lefty Tucker Davidson - coming off the 60 day DL.

I thought Smyly or Wright with Chavez being a distant 3rd.

Wow, ok. Go Tucker! He’s got a chance to make a name for himself.

Go Braves!
