Braves purchased the contract of INF Robinson Canó from Triple-A Gwinnett.

Canó, who was acquired from the Padres in a trade over the weekend, offers virtually nothing as a fantasy contributor at this advanced stage of his career, but his sudden presence provides an interesting wrinkle as the Braves and Mets square off in a pivotal three-game series in Atlanta on Monday evening. The 39-year-old veteran second baseman has hit .149/.182/.189 with one homer in 77 plate appearances over 24 games this season between the Mets and Padres.

Braves activated RHP Kenley Jansen from the 15-day injured list.

Jansen will return to the back end of Atlanta's bullpen in Wednesday afternoon's series finale against the division-rival Mets after missing a little over two weeks because of a heart condition that has been a recurring issue throughout his career. He has 20 saves on the season with a 3.58 ERA and 47/8 K/BB ratio through 32 2/3 total innings of work for the defending World Series champions.

Ronald Acuña Jr. will start in right field and bat leadoff for the National League in the 2022 MLB All-Star Game in Los Angeles.

Acuña Jr. is poised to serve as the senior circuit's primary igniter for the Midsummer Classic after launching eight homers and swiping 20 bases in just 59 games this season. Here's the full National League lineup: Acuña Jr. RF, Mookie Betts CF, Manny Machado 3B, Paul Goldschmidt 1B, Trea Turner SS, Willson Contreras C, William Contreras DH, Joc Pederson LF and Jeff McNeil 2B.

Enough with these mid week day games, not turning out well.

Braves placed LHP Max Fried on the 7-day concussion list, retroactive to August 8.

Fried was scheduled to start on Friday against the Marlins, but that won't happen now with Jake Odorizzi now the scheduled starter for that contest. The injury occurred when he he hit his head on the ground trying to make a throw to the plate against the Mets on Saturday. The left-hander will be eligible to come off the injured list on August 15, and while it's possible this will be the only start he misses, there's no guarantees with this type of injury.

Braves manager Brian Snitker said Spencer Strider was available out of the bullpen in NLDS Game 2 on Wednesday.

Strider did not ultimately appear, but he figures to see action in Game 3 versus the Phillies on Friday, maybe even as the starter. The 23-year-old rising star hasn't pitched in a live game since September 18 due to an oblique strain that now seems to be in the rearview. He posted a 2.67 ERA and 202/45 K/BB ratio across 132 2/3 regular-season innings (20 starts, 11 relief appearances) before suffering that injury.
