Craig Hansen continues to get the job done: 2 IP, 0 hits, 0 walks, 0 runs, 2 K's, 3-1 GO/AO and 13 strikes on his 17 pitches.
George Kottaras is just raking right now. Another HR and was 2-5 on the day. .286/.348/.667/1.014 line on the season.
Nic (Nick?) Hagadone left his start with an apparent forearm injury after 2 1/3 scoreless innings. He struck out 3, walked 2 and allowed a hit.
Michael Bowden has been pretty mediocre through 3 with 2 K's, 2 walks, 2 hits, 2 runs.

Aaron Reza is probably going to blow your minds at some point. 4 homers in 2006 and 2007 (college and minors) in 533 atbats. 4 homers this year in 39 atbats.

5'7" secondbaseman drafted in the 21st round. I'm getting swept up in small samples and I don't really care. I want to start the Aaron Reza fan club and no one can stop me.

Hagadone is fine.
2007 supplemental first-round pick Nick Hagadone left his start Wednesday for low Single-A Greenville with an arm injury.

"He just had a little tightness (in his throwing arm, a little below the elbow)," said manager Kevin Boles. "That

Eh, we aren't out of the woods yet with Hagadone. Forearm tightness can often be a harbinger of Tommy John surgery and that vicious slider that Hagadone throws is not a +1 in turning him away from TJ. If it is simply cramping/tightness and he can rebound in a few days then it is probably that. If he has a protracted rest out of the rotation, then I will become even more worried. Jeremy Bonderman looks like he will be headed to TJ pretty soon me thinks. His ERA is alright but he is getting hit at a higher clip, his walk rate is up noticeably and his control didn't look crisp when we saw him and his K rate has dropped dramatically. He ended last season on the DL with forearm cramping/tightness so when he goes down for TJ in 6 months, you remember you told you first. That is why I am slightly worried about Hagadone.

Kottaras probably has seen play like crap as of late (san the game winning HR). He has been sloppy defensively, looking awful at the plate, and making some serious dumb base running mistakes that such a "smart" player shouldn't be playing. Him and Dusty has a perfect chance to snatch the catching spot from Tek if they are both productive this year. mahalo

Bard with 2 more scoreless innings, struck out 2, issued 1 walk, 0 hits allowed and 3-1 GO/AO. A promotion may not be too far off.

Che-Hsuan Lin: 3-5, 2 doubles and a steal. .296/.397/.444/.841 line with 7 walks to 9 strikeouts in 54 AB's. I like him.

D-Rich was dealin' again. 6 innings, 5 hits, 2 runs and a 6-0 K/BB ratio. He has a 2.12 ERA, 20 to 6 K/BB ratio and .145 opponents batting average in 17 innings at Portland. I don't know much about him other than the fact that Sickels has him as one of his 3 favorites sleepers going into this season and he continues to pitch well. Does he have the stuff to be a solid starter in the AL East?

Chris Carter went 5-6 with a double. .344/.403/.459 line on the year.

Lars went 1-4 with a 2B.

Justin Masterson is scheduled to start at 1 PM tomorrow for the Seadogs. Will he allow a fly ball out all game? I don't think so.

Bard better be in Portland by June 1.

Aaron Reza 0-4 with a walk.

Rizzo went 3-4. All he does is hit singles, but it's still so impressive to see an 18 year old more than hold his own in A-ball for the first month of the season. Not walking or hitting for power, but a K-rate around 12% is just dandy.

Masterson: 5 IP, 4 hits, 2 walks, 0 runs, 10 K's. 2 ground outs to 2 fly outs (plus a pickoff). He now has a ridiculous .95 ERA in 19 innings to go with a 23-5 K/BB ratio.

The rest of baseball is in serious trouble. A dynasty is lurking.

Hansen with another scoreless, hitless, walkless 1.2 innings. Same for Gronkiewicz, but just one inning. Please brings these guys up and get rid of Timlin and Lopez. The Red Sox bullpen come July-August is going to be truly insane. Papelbon-Okajima-Delcarmen-Hansen-Masterson-Gronk. Wow, I can't wait. All six guys I would have no problem with closing out games. Starters just need to go 5 innings, which is good because the only one who can consistently go more than that is Beckett.

Rizzo 2-4 with a double. It never ends!

All of Masterson's strikeouts were swinging K's. So good.

Call up Dan Bard. 2 2/3 IP, 0 hits, 0 walks, 3 K's. Stud.

Hansen with 1 1/3 IP, 1 hit, 1 walk, 2 K's.

Mike Bowden sucks. 4 2/3 IP, 7 hits, 6 runs (5 earned), 3 walks, 5 K's, 1 HR allowed.

Lin: 3-3, 2B, BB. .308/.430/.446 (.877) with 10 walks to 11 K's on the year. Throw in 5 steals for **** and giggles.

It doesnt surprise me that Bowden sucks right now. I've seen him pitch, all he does is throw his fastball. No lie when i saw him pitch he only threw his changeup a handfull of times. All you have to do is sit on his fastball and you'll have success. Sure he can touch 94-96 but his delivery is so bad he can only throw that fastball and a changeup. He has a lot of trouble throwing his curveball.

Mike Bowden can hit 96? What?!

He's the third-youngest pitcher in the EL.

Yeah, I didn't think he threw anywhere near 96. I only saw him once, and his stuff was completely mediocre. I hope it was a fluke and he's better than I think he is, but I really don't think so.

In my opinion, he sucks...third youngest pitcher in the Eastern League or not.

Josh Reddick to Lancaster today.

Felix Doubront was magical for Greenville; 5 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 7/0 K/BB

Oscar Tejeda made his season debut for Greenville today. 2 for 3 with a walk so far.

I was at the Portland Sea Dogs game in maine today. I went to see Richardson with my dad and to say hi to some of the Fisher Cats players. Richardson looked like complete crap and never touched 90 MPH. He looks like a bigger version of jon lester. He has to hit his spots to be effective. NIBBLE NIBBLE NIBBLE.

Nick Hagadone to have TJ surgery. God damn it. Caleb Clay last year, now Nick Hagadone this year. Austin Bailey tore his labrum, too, which is like the absolute worst thing you can do. Bailey's career is pretty much over before it even had a chance to began.

Probably going to be at least June 2009 before Hagadone takes the mound again.

Horrible news.

Bard threw 1 2/3 IP scoreless, struck out 4, walked 1 and didn't allow a hit.
Season to date:
IP: 16.
ERA: 0.00
WHIP: .50.
K/9: 12.94.
K/BB: 7.67 (23-3).
GO/AO: 3.14.

Ryan Kalish made his Greenville debut, going 1-6 with 3 K's.

Oscar Tejeda 1-5 and Rizzo 3-5, moving his average up to .400.

A ball (Greenville). A promotion should be coming pretty soon, I'd imagine.
