Cleveland gives us the Byrd

Good trade for the Sox seeing that Wake is on the DL and Bucholz can't get things going. He's 4-0 in his last four starts and good really help out our rotation. I wonder who the player to be named is though? Hopefully it's just for cash.

Nice trade for the Sox. Byrd is a nice end of the rotation pitcher.

He's back

The Red Sox have signed free-agent righthander Paul Byrd to a minor-league contract. Byrd, 38, is expected to pitch in the minor leagues and be ready to join the major league staff around Sept. 1. He has yet to pitch this season

Seriously? He got one of the best pens in the game. I don't blame him for taking a chance on Penny or Smoltz either. He also couldn't have known Dice-K wouldn't have given the team anything.
