Cubs @ Phillies - 05/12/07 - Game Thread (Game 34 of 162)

Post#1 » by GYBE » Sat May 12, 2007 1:41 pm

Game time is 3:45 PM EST / 2:45 PM CST. The temperature should be about 70 degrees farenheit.

The pitching matchup features one of our young arms against a former White Sox starter.

Image

Angel Guzman - 0-0, 2.19 ERA, 11/3 K/BB

Image

Freddy Garcia - 1-2, 5.33 ERA, 21/6 K/BB

Garcia's ERA is pretty high but he still has a good strikeout to walk ratio which suggests it will come down. Guzman's numbers are good but they're sitll over a very small sample size.

Players To Watch

Shane Victorino - Had 6 stolen bases in one series

Aaron Rowand - .987 OPS for the season

Derrek Lee - Lost his hitting streak yesterday

Cliff Floyd - Career vs Garcia, 4 AB, 2 HR's

Did You Know?

Philadelphia's economy is largely based on Life sciences and health care (hospitals, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology), finance, information technology and communications, manufacturing, warehousing/distribution and transportation equipment. It's true!

Prediction

Both teams bats get off the hot starts as the pitchers struggle early on. The bullpens quiet the offenses until the late innings when the Cubs finally have a timely hit and steal the win.

2:45 starts...I hate them.
FOX should bring back the 12:15 start time.

I want ex-broadcaster Steve Lyons.
Who knows what the guy will say.

I only like Joe Buck for big games like the World Series otherwise he is just boring.

How could you stand Joe Buck in the world series last year? He's a Cardinals fan and was absolutely terrible during the WS last year.

I barely watched any of the World Series last year. In fact nobody watched it last year.
I am talking about some his most famous calls like the Boston world championship.

When the game gets tight in like the 8th inning I love Joe Buck because he makes the game good but in a blow out Joe Buck is so boring.

Yeah, I could listen to the gameday audio if I wanted, the MLB.TV subscription grants me that. But the TV is blacked out. :x

One of the advantages to living in Canada, I'm never blacked out of any games on MLB.tv.

Guzman looked sharp, and I said to watch Victorino. He can fly.

And I can't believe Theriot isn't playing. Second highest on-base percentage on the team after Lee, plays multiple positions, and he still doesn't get to play everyday.
