McCabe vs. Souray
I'd take McCabe in a heartbeat.
Souray is 3rd worst in the NHL in +/- and while Souray may be a better goal scorer, McCabe is a better passer and is more physical on defense.
Thoughts?

This is going to be pretty one sided because there are way more Leaf fans on this board so far then Montreal ones. I think it's closer then you think though, but I'd probably take McCabe because you don't lose much on the offensive end and he's a little stronger on the defensive end then Souray. Although McCabe really isn't that good on the Defensive end.

Well ill take Souray, and thats not just to piss on leafs fans.
Sheldon is an excellant offensive defenseman who loves to get physical. He will also fight for teamates, something i love.
McCabe had 15 and 42 this year, Sheldon had 26 and 38. 26 goals by a defenseman is rediculous.
And as this years -28, i agree its bad. awful really. But if you look at the rest of his career sans this year he is +1, so eh.
Both are great, ill take Souray by a hair

It'll be one sided alright, but because most Leaf fans HATE McCabe with his contract and the way he played this season.
That said, I think it's a tie

Souray second hardest shot at the all star comp(there are harder non all star players who can shoot harder)
Physical
can fight
Of course Souray is gonna have a worse plus minus. Aebischer was horrible for most of the season with like 5 goal games and he is there prime defenseman. Plus playing with a rookie goalie is not gonna help.
Lets talk offence. Samsonav did not work at all. They had worse offence then the leafs I believe so that wont help.

I agree with both what you and The_Child_Prodigy have to say, Souray's 26 goals are just nuts when you have a guy who can give you that kind of input and still be a physical player is always a plus.
McCabe is no sloutch he can hit, be a good defensive d-man when he wants to be (keyword wants to be) and is more then a decient skater.
Put Sheldon with a Kabrle-esque d-man and you will see his +/- be alot better ala Nik Lidstom the guy is a plus 400 almost !
I would take Sheldon just because he is the more physical player and seems to have a nack for bring more to the table, nothing agenst McCabe but he just dosn't bring what he used to anymore.

McCabe plays with a elite defenseman named Kabrle (imho a top 5 d-man) so of course he is going to look better then he is.
Souray plays for a team with no real number 1 goaltender. Jaroslav Halak looked very good in his limited PT sorrta Cristobal Huet-esque. Lets also face facts David Aebischer has been a trainwreck for the 'Habs in his 2 seasons so far he's alowed 3 goals a game thats unacceptable for a guy you want to call your #1.
I mean if Crosby's Pens were worse this season and he had 100+ points with a -30 ratting vs. player b with 60 points but he had a +30 ratting on a better team would you conclude that player b is better then Crosby?

This is false... McCabe played with Kaberle, but only on the powerplay. The rest of the year he was paired up with Carlo Colaiacovo, and Kaberle was with Kubina.

i wouldn't want either on my team considering what they're going to get paid. Both put up good numbers but are bad in their own zone. I also think Souray's physical is overestimated, he's a big buy but he plays small. Bouillon is a lot smaller than Souray and he's more physical.
If I had to pick though, I would go with Souray I guess
