The OFFICIAL Rookie impressions thread
Might as well get this annual thread started
Was very pleased by Sullinger's first preseason game. Showed he will be able to score and get offensive rebounds which Celtics really need. Probably is going to be a subpar defender despite already seeming to have a pretty good grasp of defensive rotation.
Fab Melo looked pretty lost and wouldn't bes surprised if his in the D-league for a while.
Kris Joseph didn't play.

Re: The OFFICIAL Rookie impressions thread
Actually Joseph did play, but that's how much of a non-factor he was.
Fab Melo might be the rawest player in the NBA, he really would've benefited from staying in school longer if he wasn't such an idiot.
Sullinger looks impressive, wouldn't be surprised to see him take Bass' spot as the starting PF before the season is over.
Other than the Celtics rookies that I saw play, I only saw Evan Fournier play and he really wasn't a factor for the Nuggets yesterday on offense and he was abused on defense by Jamal Crawford.

Re: The OFFICIAL Rookie impressions thread
I'll wait for the season and the real games to make some impressions
Some rookies that may impress now won't even make the final rosters or will play sparingly at the beginning at least

I didn't know Sullinger had such a nice post game. No unnecessary dancing. Just quick, strong moves

He's the best post player in the draft by far. Talent-wise, he's probably top ten... he only dropped due to health concerns.

I don't think Sullinger will be able to stop ANYBODY. Looked like an absolute sieve against inferior competiton. Looks to me like he costs as many points as he gets.
He sort of reminds me of a lesser DeJuan Blair.

Re: The OFFICIAL Rookie impressions thread
Sullinger understands rotations way better than Blair does. Hell he understand rotations better than our veteran starter Bass. He is going to have to be one of those Love/Dirk understands rotations well enough not to kill you type.

Just got back from the bobcats wiz game...mkg and beal both looked great. Mkg had a weak 2ñd half scoring but his defense is just great and he mad e evryone around him better. I didnft watch beal as closely obviously but he looked good too...hit shots and didnt make many mistakes

ross is gonna be a nice player. good defender, can hit open shots, can create space for his jumper and moves well without the ball.

Re: The OFFICIAL Rookie impressions thread
Ross has looked really good, silky smooth jumpshot and awesome defense, though what I was impressed the most by was that he doesn't play like a rookie. He understands his role in the team and knows how to work in the context of an offense, although he'll have the odd play where he'll go one on one.
