The Manhattan Knicks?
What the hell is this crap? I was just talking to a friend of mines and he was saying we're the "Manhattan Knicks" now. He's not the 1st person I've heard say that either. I'm from BK, I will always be a New York Knicks fan it really bothers me that the media is making this a battle of the boroughs (People are just eating it up). I know people from Niagara Falls and Syracuse who LOVE the NEW YORK Knicks. Even BSPN is running with this nonsense. We are and will always be the NEW YORK Knicks.

Knicks are the true team of the entire NYC. No amount of media or haters will change that.

Net fans and ESPN are just trying to piss Knick fans off. Ignore it.

Just because a Russian owner shipped the Nets from Jersey doesn't mean the Nets own and/or belong to Brooklyn; they just play there. The Knicks are the home of all 5 boroughs.

Re: The Manhattan Knicks?
Here's why we say that (not trolling or nothing just informing) but there is three reasons:
1. The "Knickerbocker" name comes from the pseudonym used by Washington Irving in his book A History of New York, a name which became applied to the descendants of the original Dutch settlers of what later became New York, and later, by extension, to New Yorkers in general. Irving was from Manhattan, New York and was inspired that name from living there. The Knicks were never named off of the entire state, it was always based on the city.
2. The postal code for Manhattan is New York, NY as the postal code for Brooklyn is Brooklyn, NY.
3. And of course, the obvious the bias...There is two teams in NY that are fairly contenders (obviously, the Knicks are ahead than we are right now) so New York supremacy is up for grabs in terms of race to get a championship.

This "Battle of the Bouroughs" and the Nets "taking over New York" are a bunch of overblown nonsense.
How about Nets fans try to take over their own home arena from being overrun by Knicks fans before trying to take over the entire state of New York, right?

Net fans were 60/40 in the 1st meeting and it was 50/50 in the 2nd meeting while 9th in attendance overall. I'd say our fanbase isn't being overrun at all. In fact, Black/White is the top selling merchandise in the NBA since June.
Only the idiots on Nets daily talk about overtaking New York but Battle of the Boroughs is exactly what it is though. No different to the "Subway Series" title between the Yanks/Mets. Nobody truly believes we are taking over anything other than our own borough. People just say that to get under Knick fans skin.

I agree with your second statement but I don't know if the last game was 50/50 split. Seemed 60/40 to me. Either there were some confused people in the crowd cheering for both teams, it got pretty loud late for Pro-Knicks.

listen to the crowd reactions late in the game. I dunno if it was 50/50 and it's impossible to know for sure, seems moot I guess.

This is not the battle of the boros. I appreciates Paradise's history lessons but all that tells me is that the team had to start somewhere. I mean what lakes are there in LA.
Our representation reaches as far as the jurisdiction of Mayor Bloomberg. ANd since we do not have "City" on our jersey you can say that we rep the whole state and the New York tristate area. Including Brooooooooooookllyn.

Yea I have noticed this too, and I don't get the logic. I guess they are trying to level the playing field for the Nets or something. I mean are the Yanks & Mets considered a boroughs thing?

OK bro. Thanks for the history lesson. Now good luck with that race to a championship thing.

Knicks represent New York including Brooklyn like the name suggests, any1 that says otherwise needs to learn how to read. Giants and Jets play on NJ's turf but they still represent NY. Only people who has bias say things like Manhattan Knicks, NJ Giants, or NJ Jets, etc.

Re: The Manhattan Knicks?
On a random note, I found out the other day that while the Nets were in Jersey during their first two years of existence in the ABA, they were the New York Nets from 1968 to 1977 based out of Long Island. I'm surprised that doesn't get mentioned here more often.
