Makes me appreciate Glen Grunwald's propensity to shake things up mid-season when he was in Toronto. Trade deadlines were always so much fun for a couple of seasons...with deals like the Keon Clark trade, Jerome Williams trade, Chris Childs trade, etc...I miss that adrenaline rush.

We have no use for any of the players in the deal except maybe selby and even then theirs other ways to get a 3rd string pg.
Its a good trade for the Cavs because they freaking suck!! We aren't as bad as they are even if the majority of the board thinks so. Kyrie is good, the cavs are still **** tho.. This trade does help them tho...

that new tax is going to be harsh...but not harsh enough to dissuade the Lakers and Mavs and Knicks of the world to stay under the tax threshold.
you may see even less parity than you currently see.
The Heat is really leary of the new tax reality. The Knicks will continue to spend (but that's Dolan), I am not sure if Jim Buss is as open to spending as his father, especially if the team continues to struggle.
It's definitely a new reality, the first GM who understands and take advantage of it would benefit hugely.

That's what confuses me. Memphis had something that Cleveland could use, and that's the best they could do? It'd seem like an even trade just to send Speights over for nothing, but the Grizzlies throw in a draft pick and other assets.
It just doesn't make sense that other teams wouldn't do just a little bit better than Cleveland did. Couldn't Colangelo do the same deal for Pietrus or Lucas instead of Leuer? Throwing in a second round pick would keep it quite a good deal for Toronto and sweeten the deal for Memphis. I know that Speights doesn't offer much that the Raptors don't already have, but Selby would give them something and does anybody really think that the Grizzlies are going to be better in two seasons than they are now? That pick could be in the teens.
Is there some provision that I'm overlooking that wouldn't allow Toronto to do the same kind of deal? Even sending Calderon for a package like that would be better pretty decent. Who thought that they'd get a first round pick for Jose?

Because of this, they are currently no better than the Raptors who havent rebuilt fully, but when it came to drafting, so far has drafted better.
