Best album so far of 2013 goes to Spitta (and it's a free mixtape):

Re: OT | Official Music Thread 2013
The concert on Saturday was awesome. I had never been to the Eagles Ballroom / Club / whatever it's called before, and it was an interesting venue. It got really loud - the crowd was really into both acts (though it was obvious most were there for ID). It was really everyone just crowding as close to the stage as possible, but it surprisingly didn't get too hot.
The opener was truly awful. I have no idea who it was - I already forgot their name - but they could not get off the stage soon enough.
Atlas Genius came out and played a really great set. I think they played 8 or 9 songs in total, and it was almost 50 minutes in length (someone in front of me recorded the entire thing on his phone (my arm would fall off) and I could see the timer on his screen). They played extended versions of pretty much everyone of their songs, which I thought was pretty sweet. Lots of great guitar riffs, and there was lots of energy during those segments. They opened up with Symptoms, and of course closed with Trojans (which got the entire crowd involved at that point - it was apparent almost everyone knew that one). In between, I heard every song from the album that I like. EVen the couple they played that I wasn't too fond of from the album, like Electric for example, I really loved live. They really put on a good show. They're coming back to Milwaukee, likely in June, as a headliner, and I would love to see that (more on that in a minute). There's just so much more flexibility for a headliner as far as putting on a show. Clearly, the set/lights/etc were all set up for ID.
ID came out with lots of energy and played a bunch of songs I have never heard of. Despite that, it was still pretty entertaining. They put on a good show and they have a ton of energy up on stage. I suppose it helps, also, that most of the crowd was there primarily for them; both the crowd and the band were able to play off of each other more. As I have mentioned, I am really not a big ID fan, but I do really like Radioactive, and I have to say that the performance just about knocked my socks off. The lead singer guy played a 500+ pound, completely massive drum throughout the song that was just all sorts of awesome. It was extended, the lighting was awesome...it's kind of tough to describe what it was like. You could feel the drum shake the room every time it was struck, though. That thing was sweet. They closed with It's Time, then had an encore with some song I've never heard before. In all, though I didn't know and don't particularly like the music, they put on a good show and that made it at least someone enjoyable for me. The Radioactive performance helped. [[ETA: Also, the lead singer said multiple times that it was the best crowd they had ever played for, that they were truly overwhelmed, etc...and I am not so sure it was just lip service. At the end of the show the crowd was going nuts and he legitimately looked like he was holding back tears.]]
After the show, I went to the Merch stand to pick up an AG t-shirt. I get up to the table to buy one, look to my right, and Keith and Mike from AG are standing right next to me. I look back, see that there is a line, buy my t-shirt, then go hop in line. About 10 minutes later I am talking with the band, we got our pictures with them, and I got my shirt signed. That is when I found out that they would be coming back to Milwaukee (The Rave, again) likely in June to headline. I asked if The Neighbourhood would be supporting them and they said yes, but only on the West coast. They weren't sure who would be supporting them on our leg of the tour, yet.
But anyways, those guys were awesome and it made my night. The night on itself was completely awesome because of that, but I'd give their performance an 8/10 (I want to see them headline), and I guess I don't know what to give ID's performance other than to say that they were good performers and Radioactive was probably the song of the night.
I definitely recommend going to anyone who is a fan (of either band, for that matter). But if you really don't want to deal with ID, know that AG will be headlining their own tour this summer.

Nice write-up. I bought tickets to June 4 in Minneapolis for an actual headlining show. Pretty excited.

Stop at the Merch stand afterward. From everything I've heard, they've been doing that at all of their shows. Not sure if that will change once they are headlining, though.

This guy has a really interesting voice and the music is awesomely mellow. Edit: Also there's the picture at the beginning which doesn't hurt.
