Re: Offseason thread
Lefties and versatility are big priorities for me as well. I would like to be easier to make double-switches, pinch-hit for the pitcher relatively early, and be covered for injuries. I might even want to carry an extra pitcher, if they had enough versatility to make it work. Guys like Estrada and Fiers have value for 4 or 5 innings, but they tend to struggle after that. I also want to see better defense in general.
That said, part of me wanted to keep Weeks. His OPS was over .800, and his OPS against righties was about the same as Scooter's overall OPS. And Scooter's OPS was arguably a total fluke. So much for the platoon, if you ask me. But the truth is I don't care for either of them.

Re: Offseason thread
Ramirez option picked up by the team, he has 3 days to agree.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Re: Offseason thread
Kinda a hand-wavy guess here, but assuming Aramis picks it up, that puts us at about $85 million. Parra probably will come in around $6 million in arby and throw on the small deals of Davis, Gennett, etc. and we'll be around $95 million, I would guess.

Re: Offseason thread
I don't know if anyone posted these up but Brewers claimed catcher Juan Centeno off waivers from the Mets, and hired Ray Montgomery from the Diamondback to replace Bruce Seid as scouting director.

Re: Offseason thread
Well we had to do something to fill 1B, hope we didn't give up anything significant. Looks like we'll be platooning over there again though, Lind can't hit LHP.

Re: Offseason thread
We'll see what we gave up but I like him platooning there. I don't think he's a great defender, though.
He's improved his patience majorly but he's another guy that will annoy those that want patience a bit.

Re: Offseason thread
Twitters is saying a straight up deal, Lind for Marco Estrada. That's fine with me.

Re: Offseason thread
If it's just Estrada straight up, that's great. Probably were going to non-tender him anyways. Wasn't cracking the rotation next year.

Re: Offseason thread
That's an awesome deal if so. Estrada is going to get **** with a sandpaper condom in the AL East and those ballparks.

Re: Offseason thread
Can we go back to the days where we traded our injury-prone players for your top prospects, not your non-tender candidates?
**** your asterisk.

Re: Offseason thread
Over/under on HR allowed for Estrada in the AL East has opened at infinity.5.

That trade actually turned out where you traded your injury prone player for our top prospect turned injury prone player.
I say we flip the script though.
Garza and Lohse for Norris and Sanchez. You know you want to.

Oh, come on now. We both know that panicky Alex Anthopolous could strong-arm you into including Mark Reynolds in that.
**** your asterisk.

No need. Reynolds is a free agent. You can sign him without giving up assets!

Re: Offseason thread
Not sure Lind can keep doing what he's been doing the last 2 years, but obviously he's a huge upgrade over Overbay/Yuni.
I kind of liked Estrada in a long relief role or as a starter who didn't go deep into the game, but I think he suffered from chronic lapses of concentration which led to lots of mistakes and lots of hr's, especially the 3rd time through the order. You don't luck your way into a strikeout rate or WHIP as good as his has been over the last 4 years though. He's got some stuff to work with. I wish him well.
