Can a Knicks fan get some info on Amare?
How is he on offense, how is he when Nash isn't on the court, maybe a mini scouting report. Thanks.

Well, some say he is nothing without nash, but when he's without Nash on the floor, he's definitely a go-to option, especially with his face-up game. He's still in a running system, so that helps him.

Re: Can a Knicks fan get some info on Amare?
To fully utilize Amare he needs a pass first PG that can run the PnR. Amare has a pretty good midrange game, but that's not his specialty.
I'm interested to see how Amare will do without Nash, but he is still in a run and gun system with a head coach he knows, so I still fully expect him to put up about 17+ ppg.

Yeah the flow of the Phoenix offense really brought out his strengths, and I actually think New York can get that flow going. You do need a passer to keep him going, so I think his offense largely rests on that.

he' like t-mac. great on sportscenter, wont put a team on his back and take you to the top. virtually non-existent for most of the playoffs. some can blame that on the fact he was double teamed, but max players still get theirs double teamed or not. also, dont expect him to rebound or play much defense. he blocks shots though. hes definitely a great piece to a team, just not a foundation.

much love to kerrsed for this masterpiece.

i don't know about that. look at what happen to Marion. Amare depended so much on nash to give him the ball in a sweet spot. you need a hellava PG in NYC to maximize amare's potential.

You will love him at times, and hate him at others. He is incredible when he wants to be, but often looks uninterested in the game especially on defense. Huge work ethic off the court, but for whatever reason, that doesn't translate to the court. Although I wasn't in favor of giving Amare the max, if the guy is motivated he is a top 5 player in the game.

He will dominate, you just need someone to mask his deficiencies on rebounding and defense.

Very good offensive player. Has a very nice mid range jump shot to about 18 feet. Has good moves around the basket. Doesn't really rebound or play defense - so that should fit well with D'Antoni
If he gave the effort - especially rebounding - then he should average about 12 rebounds per game. But the effort is inconsistent
I think its a perfect fit - the Knicks. He needed them and they needed him so they wouldn't be shut out this free agency.

If he can work on his post moves which coach Mike has always been pretty hesitant to do so far Amare won't have to depend on the PnR quite as much.

Re: Can a Knicks fan get some info on Amare?
this is my take and what i posted on your knicks board.. anyway just my general opinion
Being a Suns fan and having watched Amare for his entire career, i thought i'd offer some of my opinions on him. First of all I am an Amare fan and hate to see him go. so maybe i view his strengths over his weaknesses and am not completely objective as a result..
But in my non expert opion what you are getting is a guy that will give you 20-25 pts a game over a season regardless who your point guard is. He can be dominant at times and you always expect him to take over games... sometimes he has other times he hasnt that may have had to do with the suns system and Nash controlling the ball so much of the time though
He in my opinion is probably one of the best pick and roll players n the game, With Howard and Gasol possibly being as good for different reasons. He is one of the most prolific and one guys in the league. He's consistent from 15-18 feet and a good ft shooter, He creates mismatches and creates a lot of fouls on the opposing team's front court. He may have the best hands of any of the dominant bigs as he catches amazing passes from Nash that would have resulted in a turn over by a lot of other players. he doesnt really run the floor like he used to but then the style of the team changing may have been as much a reason as that as anything, he mostly lopes down and looks for his spots. He isnt really a post up player, more a face and drive or pop player.
The weaknesses are well documented but i think overstated, he can rebound and at times looks even good on defense, he just goes into spectator mode too often and gets out of position, like he maybe disinterested. He isnt really a leader from what i can see. Usually its someone else that seems to always take that role. He is exceptionally cocky and tends to see himself as better than most seem to think he is. Reports he's had issues with teammates at times and coaches and tends to be a separate entity on the team and not really a mixer.
I think you're gonan be thrilled with him, i think you will need another player capable of taking over games in order to seriously compete but he is one of the gbest at what he does at the 4.
anyway longer than i expected bu just bored and decided to share thoughts.

Re: Can a Knicks fan get some info on Amare?
Relatively inconsistent when compared with other top tier free agents (other than Joe Johnson, whose consistency is on the same level as Amar'e's).
At times willing to play defense, and when he does, he's above average. However, that RARELY happens. Don't even expect 1 of such posessions in each game.
Decent mid range jumper.
Shown more agressiveness this year, gets to the basket more often and always manage to make the ball go in.
Face up shot creation is good. Nash made things way easier for him. That's it. Effect of Nash on his game seem to be less than what others anticipated. HOWEVER, Nash's presence guarantees a system with Stoudemire will definitely work, since Nash himself is a beast on offense as well. Without Nash, D'Antoni's system may not work as well.
Leadership material
Again, he can grab rebounds if he wants to. Mostly he just doesn't want to.
Gets you to the Playoffs -> Gets very inconsistent in the Playoffs -> Cost you the Playoffs
