Trade Checker: Por, Den, NY, Ind

Post#1 » by BlackMamba » Mon Jan 10, 2011 5:32 am

Trade ID #5805593

PORTLAND
Outgoing: Miller (NY), Joel, Batum (Ind)
Incoming: Felton (NY), Granger (Ind), Ely (Den)

DENVER
Outgoing: Carmelo, Forbes (NY), Ely (Por)
Incoming: Curry, Fields, Azubuike (NY), Price (Ind)

KNICKS
Outgoing: Felton (Por), Curry, Fields, Azubuike (NY), Gallinari (Ind)
Incoming: Anthony, Forbes (NY), Miller (Por), Posey (Ind)

PACERS
Outgoing: Granger (Por), Posey (Den), Price (NY)
Incoming: Gallinari (NY), Batum, Joel (Por)

PORTLAND ROSTER
Felton / Mills / Johnson
Matthews / Rudy / Williams (Roy)
Granger / Babbit
Aldrdige / Cunningham / Ely
Camby / Ely / Marks (Oden)

The Blazers with the addition of Felton get a nice PG with good defense and very good offense.
With Granger the Blazers get a more stable SF that in any moment can turn out to be the franchise player (in case Roy isn't coming back as that player).

That is definitely an upgrade without losing that much. With that roster the Blazers can't miss the playoffs and make a run at anyone's money.

The Knicks get Carmelo and a couple of vets in Miller and Posey that can help the Knicks be a better team and a more serious contender.

Denver starts some sort of rebuilding mode plus A LOT of cap space for the summer.

Indiana maybe doesn't get that much of a talent for what they give up, but they also get more cap space without Granger and Posey.

I believe it's a pretty fair trade. But again, of course the idea here is to make the Blazers better.

Also, maybe some draft picks and/or rights can be included in the trades, specially to Denver and Indiana from the Knicks and Blazers.

Oh man nevermind I just really looked through this. This is a good deal for NY, but everyone in this trade has their way with Denver.

Getting Felton is a nice dream...

Indiana's compensation for losing Granger is to get two guys that play the SF position less well than he does? That's pretty brutal.

This trade would have been difficult enough without trying to involve Granger for penny's...

What do other Blazer fans think about making a push for Felton though? I am totally unsure what his value would be, knowing New York fans on RealGM it's gonna be untouchable, but if they are serious about pushing for Paul in 2012 they should sell as high as possible on Felton. Miller expires when CP3 is available so perhaps he could be a decent replacement for Felton (plus he's rumored to be a player Melo would play next to). Do something (probably involving many other pieces) centered around Miller+Batum+picks for Felton, possibly with Portland taking back a bad contract or helping facilitate a Melo extend-and-trade?

Does anybody really believe Felton would be even a shadow of his NYK self playing under Nate?

I think he got a raw deal in Charlotte and it's great to see a young player getting a chance on a big stage and making the most of it, but I just don't see how he's going to excel under our current coaching staff.

This.

Felton doesn't do that well on a consistent basis in a half-court setup. Especially if he doesn't have a lot of Options to run with.

He needs Teams/Systems like Phoenix, GSW, NY, and Denver that push the ball and where he can have more freedom on the Court. Nate is a lot like Brown. He Coaches from the sidelines a lot.

Felton AND Granger for Batum and expirings? Somehow I doubt Portland is going to get an early Christmas present like that.

the posted trade has me intrigued by the idea of granger. tried this out:

pdx gives batum, przybilla and rudy
gets granger

indiana gives granger
gets batum and rip hamilton

detroit gives hamilton
gets rudy, przybilla

works on trade checker. i imagine we'd have to throw indiana a pick as well.

reasons:

us: granger gives us a guy the scoring threat we desperately need

indiana: gets young talent with batum, sheds some money, and gets a scorer with rip. (they still seem under-compensated, so at least another pick.)

detroit: rip is unhappy, they're not winning, so they shed some of his contract through expiring przybilla and add a young, inexpensive shooter with rudy.
