Do NBA teams pipe in crowd noise?

Post#1 » by mhd » Tue Mar 11, 2014 1:35 pm

I was watching the Wiz-Heat last night, and the Wiz commentators were making such observations. Isn't it against the rules to do it?

Miami definitely does. I think MIlwaukee used to too, at least I think I remember them doing it when watching a Wiz-Bucks game a few years ago.

Not sure what the rules are. I'm sure it's against the rules to pump in a certain level of crowd noise but it's probably easy to get around it.

I don't know if they do this, but why would it be against the rules?

How many games at the AAA have you been to to make this claim?

I've been to tons of Heat games and not once have I heard the crowd noise being pumped through the arena sound system. I doubt ANY team does this.

Some do due to low attendance I think, for things like defense chants, but I don't really know why, you can still clearly see that there's barely anybody there.

In the NFL, the Minnesota Vikings used to do it. I don't think they were the only ones.

I remember in the early 2000s, the Blazers' fans caused light bulbs to burst in scoreboards and other parts of the arena because they were so loud and intense.

It would be silly to talk in absolutes. It wouldn't surprise if a lot of teams do so esp in national televised games.

Chuck Norris must have been a Blazers fan at the time or something.

Is playing the beat for the chant piping in noise? That's all I heard yesterday, the background for the soccer type chant.

This wasn't piped. And, I've been in the Rose Garden when it's louder...

Where did you get your evidence of Miami doing this? Do you work in the arena?

I've been to 2 Blazer games, and both times its gotten loud enough that when I was chanting with the crowd I couldn't hear myself, I was at the Blazers Nuggets game when Aldridge scored 44, It was loud enough that when I was screaming I could barely hear myself, thats how loud the Moda Center is.

Blazers have to lower the crowd noise.

The Raptors pipe down crowd noise during broadcasts to my knowledge.

Please don't make wild/dumb assumptions if you haven't ever been to the AAA arena and have no valid proof of it.
