San Antonio Spurs
Projected Lineup
---------------------------------
PG - Tony Parker, Patty Mills, Cory Joseph
SG - Danny Green, Manu Ginobili, Marco Belinelli
SF - Kawhi Leonard, Kyle Anderson
PF - Tim Duncan, Boris Diaw, Jeff Ayres
C - Tiago Splitter, Matt Bonner, Ayon Baynes
Trading Block: None
Position Battle: None
Mystery Man: Kyle Anderson. Kyle was a bit of a mystery all draft long. We say him up and down mock drafts. I think I saw him as high as the Jazz pick at times. Having him fall all the way to San Antonio was a bit of a shock and should be a great situation for both him and the Spurs. He'll have to prove himself, but, I can't imagine a better situation for him to have landed.
Floppymusings: My calculations say 53 wins. My gut says pencil them in for 60. But we are going with the calcs, as with all the other projections. Manu is clearly falling off, Leonard is clearly coming on, and Duncan just never seems to age. If Duncan can hold it together another year, the Spurs are a contender whether they win 53 or 60. Patty Mills will be missed... Cory Joseph is just not nearly as good a backup for Parker.
Jazzfanramblings: I kind of wish Duncan would have just retired after winning the title last year. It would have been a storybook ending to one of the greatest careers of one of the best players and ambassadors the game of basketball has ever had.
But, Duncan and Co. are lacing them up for one more year. The last year we assume for Tim Duncan as a NBA player. There is no reason that the Spurs couldn't go back and win another title this year, they've got all the pieces they had last year and Kawhi certainly has stepped up his game to give them some upward trajectory. So, I won't count them out. They are definitely in that group of 6 or 7 teams that could come out of the West this year. And by my eye who ever comes out of the West has a good chance to be the champion this season as the East isn't as strong at the top IMHO as last season.
Without having much else to say I leave you with this video. I imagine the guy on the left to be Popovich and the guy on the right to be the coach of your team.

Jazzfan1971 and FloppyMoose's Season Preview - The Spurs
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

You have very low win predictions for about every team. Can't wait for the thread for our ratings...

That's because we have a league where every team is below average.

The Spurs just had one of the most dominating seasons in NBA history, they're bringing everyone back, their best player is 23, they have amazing continuity, they have the best team in the NBA, and they only win 53 games?

So you say that Spurs will be 5th in their conference, based on standings last year? Nice job matey. Should post all previews in green.

As much as I like Kawhi: if he's your best player, you probably won't win more than 53 games right now anyway. Their best player is Tim Duncan and even he has to decline someday. Parker and Ginobili - their big three along with TD - also get older with every season. I think they will win slightly more games, but you don't have to project 60+ wins in order to be realistic.
