There will be a couple tough away games they drop....there will be 1 game they lose where they look like crap and Rodgers looks mortal. But overall I expect a 12-4 to 13-3 type season.
If the defense is **** then 11-5.
If the defense is **** then 11-5.

Re: 2015: Packers/NFL Prediction Thread
Well crap, Peter King picks the Packers
This is the 10th season Mike McCarthy has coached the Packers, and the 10th season Aaron Rodgers has played for Mike McCarthy. In all that time, from January 2006 to this weekend, Rodgers has never been fined by the team. He has never been late to a meeting, a practice, a game, an off-season workout. He has never missed any of those scheduled events without permission. He has never violated curfew either in training camp or the night before any of the 197 preseason, regular-season or postseason games since McCarthy took over. He has never mouthed off to anyone, or violated any team rule to the extent that he had to be fined.
“That is true,” Rodgers told me. “Now, in my rookie year, 2005, I did get fined once. I was five minutes late to a meeting. I was speeding down [Wisconsin route] 41, a little late, and I said, ‘I can either get a ticket here and be late, or I can drive normal and be late.’ I decided to be six minutes late and take the fine.”
There’s no really good reason to write that this morning. I just like the story. It says something about the guy I think will lead his team to the 50th Super Bowl five months from today. And win it. But really, it’s just a cheap way to tell a good story about a great player about to have a great season.
I’m picking a Green Bay-Baltimore Super Bowl. Two teams that blew golden chances to meet in the Super Bowl last year, finally keeping the appointment a year later. (NFC title game last January, five minutes left: Green Bay 19, Seattle 7. AFC divisional game last January, 23 minutes left: Baltimore 28, New England 14.)
• VIRTUOSO DEFENSE: In the mold of Lawrence Taylor, J.J. Watt’s bone-crushing hits and beautiful mind are changing the game
To make that pick, I have to get over a lot of things. For Green Bay, the Jordy Nelson injury is the biggest thing—the most dangerous weapon for Rodgers on the team that scored the most points (486) in football last year. Nelson’s a top-five-important player for the Packers, and he was lost for the year with a torn ACL in August. I worry a bit that the Packers won’t have the sure thing of Nelson to rely on. But I recall Davante Adams being in the right place at the right time for Green Bay to beat Miami last year. I think Randall Cobb will be the same co-number one he was last year. “We don’t have a go-to guy,” Rodgers said this summer. “We might have a go-to guy on plays, but it’s all about matchups and finding the high percentage pass on that play.” Rookie Ty Montgomery will help, and Sunday’s signing—desperate-seeming, but smart—of James Jones to return after spending last year in Oakland should be a shot in the arm. I’m confused why the Giants didn’t keep Jones after having him in camp this summer. Jones is 31, healthy, and should be a good role player. In his last three Packer years (2011-13), Jones averaged 82 targets, 54 catches and eight touchdowns a year.
I like the defense well enough too, despite the loss to free agency of solid corners Tramon Williams and Davon House. Maybe that’s me trying to talk my way into picking Green Bay, but I remember in the NFC title game last year what I saw in the first 55 minutes: 12 Seattle drives, seven points, 187 yards, four interceptions of Russell Wilson. Mike McCarthy got conservative late, and Rodgers was just okay, and the Packers couldn’t finish it off.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Re: 2015: Packers/NFL Prediction Thread
This looks to be a fairly similar Packers team to ones over the last few years, with some additions and subtractions players wise.
Offense should be top 3 or top 5 at worst in both yards and points. The defense yet again looks very mediocre along the front seven, but the secondary should be pretty good. My guess is the defense will end up ranking in the 14th to 22nd range. The team will also finish among the league leaders in turnover ratio, mainly because of Aaron and Lacy rarely fumbles.
So if Rodgers plays 15 or 16 games and the team has reasonably good health overall, i see 13 wins on the high end and 11 on the low end, so i'll settle with 12-4 to win the North.
As for the playoffs, they can be so random, but if reasonably healthy in those playoffs, i'd go 60-40 on a trip to the Super Bowl. Can't go higher on that right now because i simply don't trust the defense.

Pretty much exactly where I'm at. Top 5 offense and an average to below average D.

Maybe if the game was in September or October.
But it would be vintage McCarthy/Rodgers era Packers if they put themselves in position to secure HFA by beating teams like the Seahawks,Cheifs and Cowboys throughout the season only to blow it and get bumped down to like the 3rd seed because they lose to the Raiders week 15 in late December.
No one will want to admit it but if you're honest with yourself you can already see that one coming 500 miles away with this Packers team.

I don't think we're going rinse and repeat another 12-4 type of season where they disappoint you by either not showing up or choking in the playoffs.
My gut is that the Packers are either going to have a really disappointing season where they go 9-7 and no one meets expectations and by January no one will be surprised they either missed the playoffs or were one and done.Or they're going to have a '96 type of season where they go 13-3/14-2 and win the Super Bowl in about as close to a dominating fashion as you can in this era.Steam roll through the regular season and when they win the Super Bowl no one doubts that the Packers are the best team type of season.
I've felt that way since January and still don't know which Packer team we're going to get.
I just don't feel another 11-5/12-4 come up short in the playoffs type of season, something is going to give this season good or bad.

If Rodgers plays 15 to 16 games, he's simply to good for the team to struggle bad enough to finish say 8-8 or 9-7. Not in today's football which with a variety of rule changes that make NFL football so much about passing and in turn having a good QB. Mix in our OL and Lacy, the offense will score to many points to only win 8-9 games barring a ton of injuries to key players.

Yeah, we don't choke away games against bad teams at home, though. If anything, we've shown a remarkable consistency with beating terrible teams over the last few years, especially at home. Our December losses with Rodgers - against a 9-7 Bills team in Buffalo in 2014, against a 9-7 playoff-bound Vikings team on the road in 2012, and on the road to a 6-8 Chiefs team in 2011 - all involved road losses, and all involved competitive teams. That doesn't mean we should lose those games, of course, but with Aaron, we take care of business at home against those kinds of teams.
ETA: And...I just realized that was a road game. Uh oh.

The safe play here is 11-5 with that 2 game variance +/-.
I have no clue either way this year. It all comes back to Rodgers supporting cast. If Ted's last 2 draft classes step up into impact players, then 13-3 and Super Bowl. If they don't this could be a 9-7 team if the defense can't stop the other team.
I'm going 10-6 only because I still don't feel like we've got a good front 7 on defense and we'll have a normal run of injuries to key guys.
