2016 Offseason GMAT: Trades

Post#1 » by MadNESS » Tue Jun 28, 2016 5:02 pm

Make sure your rosters are updated or do not bother posting a trade

Make sure your trades follow the CBA

If you're using cap space in a trade, make sure it shows that!

Show the math!

Have fun!

All parties must accept the deal in this thread or it does not count.

Number your trades!!!

First trade

NOP outgoing:

Omer Asik - $9,904,494 / $10,595,505 / $11,286,516 / $11,977,527(NG)
Buddy Hield - $2,931,000 / $3,062,900 / $3,194,800(TO) / $4,051,006(TO) / $5,404,042(QO)

Total salaries: $12,835,494

ATL outgoing:

Dennis Schröder - $2,708,582 / $3,824,518(QO)
Tim Hardaway Jr. - $2,281,605 / $3,335,707(QO)

Total salaries: $4,990,187

Pels accept.

We do this first to shed Asik. Yes the cap raised, but he's still unwanted dead weight! And although it cost us our #6 pick in this years draft, who we haven't given a proper test drive yet... I'm not a big fan of his and it wasn't difficult for me to part with him. Maybe I lost value... I don't care too much. I have a different mind-set in this game, than those of old. Anyways, I've been a big fan of Schröder since his rookie year and am ecstatic to have him as a Pelican. I'm also excited to have THJ. A guy whose shown sparks of being a really good shooter. He'll get opportunities to expand his game and show what he's got in our system, which will take some of the loss of Hield away--we hope. Hield may be a dollar, but we'll take several quarters or dimes... or nickles... I digress.

Philly accepts. Not a fan of Okafor's game, Vonleh on the other hand is a diamond in the rough imo. Plumlee's a good player and can be flipped and we get two picks. Good dealing saul.

We think Buddy is the best player / asset in this deal and the players I'm trading won't cause me to lose any sleep. Asik doesn't look too bad with the rising cap. We like this deal and I'm sure JR does also. Win-Win. Good dealing.

There's a regime change in NOLA and Holiday was the next man out. We may have lost value on this deal, but we liked Casspi a lot. He may just be a stop-gap SF, but were happy with what he brings. McLemore finally gets a change of scenery and a second chance to see if he belongs in the league. Q-Pon had salary we're happy to shed.

#6 Cle-Det

Cle trades:

TPE (Anderson Varejao, expiring 2/18/17) — $9,638,554 - Not needed in making this move - CLE retains

Det trades:

Jodie Meeks $6,540,000
Joel Anthony $2,500,000 (ung deal)
DET 2021 2nd

Why? Win win for both! Good dealing as always scott!

Detroit accepts - we now have Max cap space to go after the elite free agents or combined targets.
NOTE: Cleveland is at $78M with Lebron having opted out and they are retaining the TPE from their Varejao deal with Portland. 'This trade creates a TPE for Detroit in the $8.5M salaries they sent out.

NOP outgoing:

Tyreke Evans - $10,203,755
Alexis Ajinca - $4,713,203 / $5,036,798 / $5,360,394

Total salaries = $14,169,958

CHA outgoing:

Jeremy Lamb - $6,511,628 / $7,000,000 / $7,488,372
Spencer Hawes - $6,348,759 / $6,021,175(PO)

Total salaries = $12,860,387

Pels accept.

We do this to continue our overhaul. He add spacing here too. The NBA is all about spacing now. So we're following that trend. Lamb is a guy I've always liked, coming out of UConn. He's got the tools--he just needs to put it all together. He'll get a chance to do so in NOLA. Hawes is someone we liked in SAC and he showed his worth in CHA last season. He'll get the chance to play more in NOLA and we think it will pay dividends.

Philly In:
Stanley Johnson ......$2,969,880 .. $3,097,800 .. $3,940,402 .. $5,311,662

Detroit In:
Joel Embiid $4,826,160 $6,100,266 $8,003,549
2017 POR 1st

Pistons have space to make difference work.

76ers accept. I'm really skeptical about embiid and was just looking for solid value for him. We already have two (better) picks this year and just got the portland one as a sweetener so not too sad to loos it. Especially because we really fill a hole here and I'm a bigger fan of SJ than most. As a pac 12 fan I saw him in AZ and I think he just needs some time to catch up to the nba, he'll be a starting SF in a few years and that's what we needed. Nice dealing scott.

Detroit accepts - This move allows us to work Embiid into the PF slot and eventually move Marcus back to the SF with Tobias Harris - more natural positions, though either can go to the 4 in small ball. We are confident that the reports on Embiid are accurate and the surgery will strengthen the foot bone to eliminate future issues. Needed the pick as inducement since I like what Johnson has shown, but Embiid may be that special talent. Keep 'em Coming Dame!

Accept. Just not a fan of either Hawes or Lamb. Ajinca gives me some much needed rim protection and Reke is both talented and an expiring.

Milwaukee Bucks and LA Lakers have reached an agreement

Jabari Parker - $5,374,320
MCW - $3,183,526

Total = $8,557,846

for

Rights to Brandon Ingram
Lou Williams - $7,000,000
Nick Young - $5,443,918
Larry Nance Jr. - $1,207,680

Total = $13,651,598

Milwaukee is far enough under the cap to absorb the difference

Bucks do this deal since we are building the all wingspan team. :P

That and we think Ingram's shooting fits our needs better ATM.

Good dealing Ness
